The crowd was killing me through the whole freestyle lol, but what matters most is that they gave Mack the energy he rightfully deserved at the end.

The wardrobe and item call outs is such a crowd pleaser. Almost like a parlor trick. The thing is though, that is just 1 out many thousands of other forms that exist, and that I have seen quite a few freestyle artists do. The "hold up a random object" or "give me some random words, or throw them into the flow" is a very foundational aspect of the past 30+ years of hiphop. I would never insult this kind of performance, yet if you know Harry Mack and the giants he stands upon...this is easy mode for him. This is just another Monday. The audience gets what the audience wants or needs. And in some ways, that is the essence of the performative arts. Are you entertained?

@@glenjamindle That is like saying black movie theatres are the best. Apparently you have never been to a midnight+ showing where me or someone like me was there with some friends. The theatre slightly smelled like weed(probably blueberry kush and a pinner pipe), we often had a bottle of whiskey and everyone was laughing their ass off. Including all of the other adults in a half filled theatre. Most of us were very white. In skin color. You are mistaking skin color for culture. That is a common mistake. Culture is independent of skin color. I know what you mean, yet the truth is far more nuanced.

@@StanZbornak Some of the flowstates he has hit on his livestream are epic. His rap where he dissects his bars while rapping...is amazing. There is one where he raps as if his dog suddenly started talking. That one is hilarious. In some ways, he is occassionally so much more...amazing, when he is just given a really weird scheme, that requires almost super human levels of focus and flow state. 3 words is easy for him. Hold up an object is easy. That is sometimes the crowd pleaser, the setup, the filler and the turn. The schemes are the prestige. The end stage of the magic trick, and everyone thinks: "How dafuq did you do that?" Sometimes: He explicitly proves his bars are not prewritten(the setup). Then he wins over the crowd.(the turn). Then he schemes the ideas in ways that perhaps you think is impossible. (The prestige...) Amazing. Sometimes. Awesome. All of the other times.
