An evening cast on Loch Fada | Wild brown trout & a rocket propelled rainbow!

Taken from Sunday 21st May 2023 this is an evening trip I made to Loch Fada, the upper of the two Storr Lochs. I fished the far bank, south down to the back of the island in the search of a big brownie. Alas, I never got one but I still managed a few fish and had a great evening on one of Portree Angling Association's lochs.

Tackle | 5-8 weight rod, 7 weight Cortland peach 444 floating line
Flies used | size 12 Loch Ordie took both brownies and a small size 14 Kate Maclaren variant with a light blue tail took the rainbow.
Also used - Morning Glory and a cruncher

It certainly was a pleasant evening and nice to explore the far bank, glad you enjoyed it. I normally add details of the flies / tackle in the video description as well in case I don’t mention it in the video, the Loch Ordie is a great fly and can work really well on the Storr Lochs. Cheers Toby, you should do happy to give you the tour 😆 A 6lb brown came off Fada last season to one of our members and a 9lber off Leathan to one of the island ghillies and a client - an absolute beast of a trout. So good fish are there, I’ll be trying again early season. Leathan can be a bit dour after mayfly time but Fada maybe less so. Hope you are doing ok and managing to get out for a cast 👍
