My wife and I LOVE your videos! We were in Paris in May of 2011 to see our daughter who was teaching in Tours. Your videos, with all of the "Paris sounds", bring back, so vividly, memories of the wonderful adventure we had there! Thank you, thank you for posting these wonderful reminders! They are perfect! We have never found any so smooth, professional, and satisfying! We are in your debt, to be sure!

THANKS Seeing the disciplined crowds, uncrowded and unlittered streets and the air of understated refinement in the place makes me forget the dirt, crowds, noise, crime, religious nonsense and uncivilised environs of the nation where I live. Thanks, for the upload. It helps me escape to a world of class and order for a few minutes which acts like a balm. I am happy for those who call France their home and well living in Paris takes one beyond the glitter, pomp and show of almost every other world class city in the world. Paris is in a class of its own. Retain your culture.

@AnUmissableJourney I live in Paris. I like to record the streets because it allows people to see what it's like to just walk in the city, without any bizarre music or artsy effects or tiresome high-speed editing. It's just a "you-are-there" shooting style.

The hotel I stayed in when I holidayed in Paris is on this street. I found it to be an amazing stretch of road with many interesting people working and living on it and I found a great cafe with equally great staff. I loved this area because it seemed not so "touristy" and more like an area where locals lived and worked. It's a shame you didn't get a chance to do the other side of the street because the bastille end of St Antoine street is really cool. thanks for sharing all of your paris walks there great.

@TheFraigo Rivoli street actually ends well west of the Bastille, just after the rue de Sévigné, where it merges with and becomes the rue Saint-Antoine (this point is passed in the video at around 26:15). The rue Saint-Antoine then continues on to the Bastille.

Each neighborhood has scheduled times for garbage collection, and city ordinances require that residents set out their garbage containers just before the garbage collectors pass. So normally you don't see any containers on the street unless you happen to be walking near the time of garbage collection for that neighborhood. They are big green plastic containers designed to be compatible with the lifting equipment on garbage trucks. There are also people cleaning the streets early in the morning.

i like these videos while i study, they keep me from going to youtube and getting distracted from my homework. I think it would be cool if you looked up at the buildings every once in a while or keep your eyes (camera) on a object you pass that you think is interesting. It'd be a nice slight change in visuals and would give us all more of an idea of what you like to look at as an individual!

McDonald's is very discreet in Paris. At 06:08, if you look to the left across the street, you can briefly glimpse the entrance to a McDonald's. There are only two on the rue de Rivoli, and this is one of them. The other one is further west on the street and can be seen in my other video showing the western part of the street during the day.

Great! I live in Buenos Aires. Unfortunatly, it's a dirty city. Containers are not removed from the streets. They are green too. Once they are empty they are not removed from the streets. And they are not big enough, so plastic garbage sacs are left on the sidewalks, next to te containers. Thanks for answering!

@AnUmissableJourney If I can figure out where they are most common, I'll look into it. I don't recall a specific area that is thick with antique dealers inside the city, but then again I haven't looked for them before. There are a lot at the flea market north of Paris.Sometimes they are nervous about photos, though (they might be worried about people getting independent appraisals).

@AnUmissableJourney I just use a small consumer camera. It has the huge advantage of being inconspicuous. People just assume that I'm a tourist. I do have a gadget that stabilizes the camera for extremely smooth traveling shots, but I generally don't use it precisely because it draws way too much attention.

I was last in Paris in 1969 or 1970. It did not look like this! My son, who was with me at the time, only a toddler, told me that Europe had changed so much. Certainly, in this video, Paris looks very much like New York City where I live now. (I was in Europe for 2 years when a young mother). I found your video while looking for street cams. Great video! I've beeen to Paris in 1980, 1986, 1987 and 1992. Once I stayed in a cheap hotel on the Rue Saint Antoine. This video was fascinating all the way. Many videos of Paris have the usual tourist attractions. It's rare to see videos of walking tours, that's what makes your video well worth watching. I wonder if anyone else noticed the lack of fat people?

What a great way for folks to re-live their time spent in this lovely city! I have to ask though, how have you been able to shoot this in such a smooth, gliding manner, without the body's natural tendency to either sway a little (from side to side) or bounce a little (up and down) while walking. You did an amazing job!

There are these magnificent collection of buildings, parks, streets and the language and these things continue over the centuries with modifications of course. But they continue and the bodies who inhabit the structures and maintain and air the language change, die, refresh, die. The buildings and language are the real Paris. The people only maintain it.

@AnUmissableJourney It's impossible to get a decent job without working papers in Paris, and it's extremely difficult for non-E.U. nationals to get working papers. Most of the non-E.U. nationals I know of who are working in Paris have papers only because they married a French person. If a person has special skills that are much in demand, he can sometimes get hired by a company that will help him get papers.
