Dave has the best job in the whole world.... I built a minimoog clone from the original schematics a few years ago, and dreamed of being Dave Smith in the mid 70s... Ended up building a midi interface for it (because old-school j-wire keyboards are hard to find and are kind of temperamental). It would be huge fun to get paid to work in that "strange world in between engineering and art" that is synthesizer design. Love listening to Dave talk about it.

Can't do that in software synths, yeah right!
@ernestbuckley86719 жыл бұрын
+Marco Magana, I have to tell you, as an owner of the P6 and many software synths, there really is no comparison. I turn the P6 on everyday and start working on it. No software synth has ever created that much excitement for me. Its a well built, great sounding, and really fun instrument to sit down with and start twisting knobs.

+Marco Magana, Cool. Whatever inspires you! For me, I love having the knobs right there. What you see is what you get with the P6. Don`t get me wrong, I love Thor (found in Reason), and the Native Instruments synths but again, sitting in front of a computer monitor and shifting back to the keyboard is a bit tedious. With the P6, there is an immediate interplay with the instrument.

that's great! I'm still learning about control voltages in reason, I need to master it. It's a fun experience learning how a synthesizer work. After all they are emulations of analogs. But what matters, is the output coming out the speakers. That's when strong sound design skills come into place.

I can't believe he said that Roger Linn invented Hip-Hop. The audacity....
