12:57 You know your synth is a beast when it can roar without even being turned on.

Absolutely :) Prophet 10 definitely fits that category.

I also have had the good fortune to visit Sequential and get a tour of the facility with a local synth club. It was a real treat to see where the magic happens and meet some of the folks who work at Sequential. I also have had the very good fortune to visit our local synthesizer store RobotSpeak and have enjoyed Carson Day sharing several performance on Sequential synths. So lucky to have had these experiences here in the San Francisco area.

Thanks for sharing that. It was a magical experience to visit DSI/Sequential, glad you also had the chance! :) WHen I was visiting San Francisco I was also able to record Carson's demo of the PRO3 at Robotspeak. Great place!

How wonderful that you were also able to visit RobotSpeak to record Carson Day performing on the Pro 3! RobotSpeak is such a rare place these days. For anyone in to synths wether it is small tech toys, Eurorack modules and systems, or full sized professional synths like Sequential and more, RobotSpeak is a must see place! Thank you for sharing your videos with us. They give us all a small peek into the world of synths that we all love.

On another site, a guy goes under the hood of various synths. Under the Prophet 12 it looked so simple for what the synth can do. But those boards hold more complexity than what we saw under the hood of the PSI10

This is such a great and friendly video. Thanks Carson and synth4ever. So great to see the inside of the Prophet-10 and also the OB-6. It must be wonderful to have creative work like this. I noticed there wasn't much stuff from the late 1980s, like the Prophet-VS or the 2000 and 3000 samplers. Maybe they were at the back of the office where they were probably developing the Prophet-X.

I was there today... I've been wanting to do an A/B comparison of the Prophet-12 and the new REV 2... I will be adding a Prophet-12 to my studio very soon... what a killer machine! I saw Carson, but I was invited by my friend Tony Karavidas, one of the engineers. Spoke to Dave for a few minutes, talked about the fires up in wine country... such an awesome experience...

Hoping to visit Sequential next week. Just picked up the Take 5. It sounds smooth and analog, with a modern touch. I was going to save up for a Prophet 6, but the Take 5 is all I need. I can always use another synth for pads.

@kidgloves27 жыл бұрын
EverettDudgeon138 They do look cool, but with splits now we don't really need it. If I remember they did it because 10 voices got too hot so they separated them? With today's technology he probably could do a prophet 10 without heat issues. Or my dream an OB-10 with splits and layers!! Either 10 voices or 2 X multi-timbral 5 voices. Add 2 sequencers instead of 1 so we can do some counterpoint with different patches. I'm only dreaming.
@EverettDudgeon1387 жыл бұрын
I honestly am surprised he hasn't done a multitimbral analog synth. A lot of people were comparing the Alesis Andromeda to the Rev2 because of the 16 voices and it seemed like during a demonstration the DSI guy was like "The Andromeda...not so good." I was like "uh.....Andromeda is multitimbral, this is bitimbral"

DS Instruments tis a boutique affair. However, when you with thine eyes feast upon Das Innardz of the operation it doth take away from dat mystique. Thousands of dollars for old tech, meh. Don't people know that virtual synths are now virtually indistinguishable from real, analog synths? It's here -- it's finally happened! Casual listeners who spend money on music would never know the difference. Those who craft it might know the difference (only because they are aware of the tools they use). Blindfolded even the purist would have an impossible discernment. Either way, enjoy your beats bastard humanity!
