It's sad when Elie asked, "Why help took so long" , was he asking help from Europe or America or all? Did he not read up on the war outside of Auschwitz? France and Italy was on it's knees, Britain was on a knife's edge. True, Americans didn't want to get involved, but after 1941 - it took a year to prepare and organize the invasion. Does Elie know HOW HARD IT WAS to finally end the war? And again, NO ONE believed Nazi Germany committed heinous atrocities until it was all over. Sad, but the blame felt shameful.

(most are probably too horrified. it takes guts for him to tell the world about what happened.) the others could also get out and write a book. except that i think with Wiesel's story already out there... it'll be pretty hard and maybe repetitive.
