39:25 People aren't just clapping because oh hey it's familiar, but because those Muppets are PEOPLE in everyone's minds, and so it's rude not to clap when guests join a stage. Imagine just awkwardly sitting when Kermit the Frog arrives-- no, of course you clap, a famous movie star just "walked in the room". That's how real Muppets are to people.

I'm always most amazed at Frank Oz's Cookie Monster, so incredibly fluid in its movements, like a big furry blue amoeba. 😂

Well Done Frank Oz

Yeah normally I prefer Jim but Frank was on fire in this session. His talent is scary good. Every time he speaks as a character, every line, gets a response, it's so iconic and familiar-sounding that it's as if Jimmy Hendrix was just sitting playing a lick every few seconds, and the crowd cheers. Rock stars, man.

Thanks for uploading this. Do you guys also have the Puppeteers of America promotional film from Grey Seal Puppets in the late 80's. "News and Views" I believe it was called.

Wow Cookie Monster seems super low-effort, you can just about do him in a comfortable seated position just holding a conversation naturally, looks actually pretty seasy (if you have decades of puppeteering experience to the point where the mouthing comes automatically of course)

Just realised Frank Oz could never do this with, say, Yoda. Wouldn't be appropriate, legal or easy to achieve in a live format. Nobody wants to see Yoda bantering with an audience... he's in a different category completely from The Muppets.

Also, Frank never does the voice without a puppet.

Not to mention how heavy the Yoda puppet was. It took three people to manipulate the Yoda puppet.

Jim Henson was the hardest working man in show business, a creative genius and Disney(TM) bought The Muppets out just to shelve it for the competition. That sux...
