So glad I got to see them from Hello to This Toilet Earth live every time they played in Hampton Roads. They played at The Insect Club, Kingshead Inn, and even played at the old Waterside Mall in Norfolk. Best years to see them live. Dave was and always will be the heart of GWAR.

Oh man I remember taking a friend of mine to go see GWAR back in the early 2000's. He never really got into them music wise and thought they just wore silly costumes. He didn't realize how extreme their theatrics were. I'll never forget when they tore the face off Michael Jackson and he sprayed a jet stream of blood right into my friends face. He became an instant fan and we saw them like 7 more times after that.

I saw GWAR, at a different venue, the night Dimebag Darryl got shot in Texas. Dave came out emotionally decimated on stage and out of costume in front of everyone. I'll never forget the feeling the audience had, for what is usually such a boisterous crowd, looked so defeated.

Already answered in previous comment. There is a version of this documentary with GWAR songs. Hopefully the fans can see that at some point. If you've ever made a documentary before you should know "Rights and Clearances" are complex and I was asked not to use that music by the band. Hopefully I can get the original edit with the correct music out to the fans at some point. It seems dumb to me but that's the sad business of art, media, and content.

I love GWAR too but I also love not getting sued by Metal Blade who owns the rights currently of the GWAR songs in the original edit which is currently on my Lacie hard drive 💾 at home. Hopefully the original cut or at least a version with those songs can be released at some point. Yes, it was one of my many regrets making this. I agree with you. Other than that I am glad you enjoy it.

Lol could y’all not get permission to use GWAR’s music, because that generic nu metal track was not a good alternative.

A very long an complex reason why...beyond that my main connection to the band died while we were editing it.

Also GWAR doesn't own the rights to all their songs and getting involved with Metal Blade is it's own situation. This took a lot more work than it looks like. Most projects do.
