Also, the fact that gold is scarce and hard to get is the exact reason it is vauble to back monetary system. The whole problem with the current unbacked system, is that it is very easy to create (inflate) new money into the system. The problem with backing to something like honey (if you were serious) is that is that it is very easy to create. If honey backed the monetary system, you would see a massive influx of honey suppliers that would essentially "print" new money into the system

There would be so much honey, that it would lose it's value and you would be back in the same senario of a fiat based system. Another problem with honey is that it doesn't store well over a long period of time. An issue people have with gold as you said is that it is so scarce especially if you were to exchange it in ounces. But with current technology, you can exchange 1/1000 of an ounce of less. There is also silver and other base metals that are more abundent like smaller denomiated bills.

Sorry to jump in on you on the gold question again, but just look at it this way. There is no reason the money needs to be gold, the consumers on the market will decide what to use as money depending on what works best for them. Historically this has been gold. However, whatever the market chooses necessarily benefits the middle and lower classes as they represent the majority of society and thus have largest influence deciding what money will be. Free the market and money will serve all.

A gold standard and people walking streets with gold in their pockets are not the same thing. With today's technology, we can still use credit cards and transact in the current way we do on a gold backed standard. I agree, carrying a pocketfull of gold coins is just as foolish as carring a breifcase full of 100$ bills. And as long as people hold anything of value, there will always be bandits and "socialpaths". Regardless of what form you chose to transact in, there will always be that risk.

So do you guys think if we adopt a monopoly backing of our money (gold standard) that this will lead to higher efficiency, productions, abundance generation, and higher standards of living even for those who live in areas where gold doesnt exist, and where people are very poor or is your idea of a perfect world one where the strong survive and the most competetive prosper and the weak and distitute fade away into oblivian? Will gold standard make the world a better place & if so how?

Did I say anything about paper money solution as you assumed?I agree that we can use anything that is viable as a backing to paper certificates or do you think it is wise to have people walking the streets with gold in their pockets? I do agree also if it maintains value then that is great.I dont believe in money being backed by something scarce and hard to get for many people otherwise we have people fighting for it and stealing for it like bandits and socialpaths. Honey backing is another idea

What the hell does all that have to do with a gold standard? How does a paper money solution solve any of the problems that you have mentioned. The choice is between a paper money standard and a gold money standard, not a paper money standard and utopian "solve all the world's problems" standard. In a place where gold doesn't exist, something that has "value" will be exhanged. This has nothing to do with saving the world. It just maintains value of trade and savings.

Does it have to be gold, and if so why & who does this benefit the most? could it not be something else that has more usefuleness to society and doesnt ruin the environment and peoples health(lungs) to extract (ie. gold mining &refineries with chemical toxins released into waterways). How about something that encourages production,is not a pollutant, and encourages growth in food production such as Honey. This is just an example & I can think of others. So Why Gold & whos agenda does this serve
