I could see this being used as a ceremonial "first nail" like how executives use a golden shovel for the first scoop of dirt or cut an opening day ribbon with big scissors. Might cause the chain to twist as you unscrewed it - and as you twist chain, it goes rigid and expands. Would be good if it worked, but would worry it would jam inside the nail and then get ripped apart as you carried on unscrewing the head.

@@goldcd he can make the hook spin
@MrRusty-fm4gb2 жыл бұрын
Not trying to be a dick but a hook would look tacky. If anything adding a nice thin velvet liner for inside the nail to reduce noise and protect the chain would be dope. Or instead of the diamond anti-slip tread on the head, he should have made it resemble a tiny eggo waffle. Other than that, I think it is perfect how he made it.
@dustingooding48702 жыл бұрын
Very beautiful and masterfully made! Add a hoop or clasp to the underside of the head of the nail to pull the necklace/ bracelet from the body of the nail would have been icing on the cake. Well done!

It's a pun. A funny part seems to be lost in translation. "Suck it up" means 'accept a hardship' but "ЗАБЕЙ" rather meens 'ignore, forget that' But! 'Забей гвоздь' literally means 'hammer a nail'. This title on the plank is like a reminder "Don't worry, be happy".

What he does isn't really manual. He is using a cnc machine and a computer guided lathe. He isn't really doing anything manually except sanding and polishing. But either way, the concept if nice and it does take time to learn how to program those machines. I do everything with hand tools and antique tools and lathes so if I was to make something like this, it would take a long time to do cuz it would be done with no computerized tool help or cnc machine. But either way the concept of what he does is cool but anybody with access to those tools he uses could make this no problem as long as they knew how to program and work the tools.

The beech looks a bit cheap and plain next to all the wenge, gold, craftsmanship and the obvious blood, sweat and tears spent in obtaining it. Besides that I am now officially jelly AF and pining after ways of obtaining one of these amazing little lathes in the future.

Sabeu in Catalan means to know and/or "don't mind it" but Google translate struggled with the letters, so it might be Romanian. The gold chain is a traditional gift for a baby, but also shows up in Judaism. The nail is a symbol for the original nail that held Jesus to the cross (or tree). There is also a Buddhist poem the golden chain: We will be kind and gentle to every living thing and protect all who are weaker than ourselves. We will think pure and beautiful thoughts, say pure and beautiful words, and do pure and beautiful deeds. May every link in Amida's chain of love be bright and strong, and may we all attain perfect peace.
