I completely agree! I have 2 electric canners, 5 pressure canners. I do an the things. And i love the force multiplier of the electric canners. I can go to work, do laundry, take s care package to a friend... I can left overs, i can small batches, i can the extras that don't fit in a full canner. I appreciate the ease of teaching and encouraging with an electric canner. Big fan.

Yay for you Jennifer! Isn’t it wonderful to be able to do all the other things while being productive elsewhere? I love canning bits and pieces as well. I love that you teach and encourage! You are my kind of friend! Blessings on your encouraging heart! 😁🤗

I'm sitting here babysitting my canner of ham broth with meat bits inside and turkey broth with meat already put in freezer. I spent the whole day yesterday finding, washing, setting up, freezing turkey, roaster full of 2 large turkey carcasses and stock pot full of ham bones. It was a great day to watch YT and see stuff I would rather be doing - LOL. But I now have 18 pints of delicious ham broth with half of jars filled with meat and broth for the best soups later this winter. AND getting ready to jar up 24 pints of turkey broth with meat in the freezer to add later - just don't enjoy the flavor of canned turkey. I learned yesterday that sage would turn bitter in canned food so left out all herbs as I know I added sage to my previous batches since it does taste so good in stuffing. Your video came out just in time for me to want to get an electric canner. I've steered away since one 'authority' said they weren't approved for safe canning but everyone is using them and I want the time it saves babysitting! I know you don't do anything unsafe so now need to save up for one. The worst part of pressure canning is the babysitting time. Now I need to get up and get to the turkey sitting job. Have a super day enjoying your life! You are amazing! (I did love hearing your schedule and being totally impressed. I can't complain about my life for sure!)

Oh Mary, you are doing an amazing job! You are getting up so much goodness! You are such a blessing to your family! Yes, I know that Sage does not can well for future flavors. I learned that the hard way. But it sounds like you’re doing beautiful work! I do so hope that in the future, you can get an electric canner. I just looked on Amazon and they are still only $199.99. I don’t know if that is doable for you but I wanted you to know. And just so you know, I love this machine because of this quote about it…USDA-APPROVED PRESSURE CANNING: Safely process low-acid foods such as meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables with this Presto digital pressure canner that meets USDA guidelines. No adjustments are needed for high altitudes. Because I too, don’t wanna do the wrong thing. Thank you for knowing that you could trust my canning. Blessings on your continued diligence! Love you, friend! 🤗❤️

I have two of the other brand electric canners and I love them for the same reason. No more babysitting the stove and I can go about my day and get other things done. I just set a timer to go back and unload eload them if needed.

@@OpenHandFarm It sureis! I've encouraged several of my friends to get these canners who have never canned before because they were afraid of the stovetop version, and they have turned into canning queens! ♥

I’m thinking of getting an electric canner next year. I don’t have a gauge on my stove top pc so I can putter around the house doing other things while listening to the rocking valve.
@OpenHandFarmАй бұрын
Hi Karen, I have heard about the rocking valve and my concern would be that I would become so mesmerized by the continuous sound that I wouldn’t know if it was getting faster and harder. It would just become background noise. Yet I guess that would be better than standing and watching a gauge. Well, I hope that if you get one, you will enjoy it as much as everyone else that I have heard has enjoyed it. Blessings on your canning! 😁🤗

You have awesome videos though. I’m always interested in what you do. Had to come back to comment again: that was amazing!! Look out, you may end up with a canner in each room….😂
@OpenHandFarmАй бұрын
🤣🤣🤣 that would be something! Then I would have to build a garage to store them all in! 🤦♀️ thanks so much for your kind words Lisa! I so appreciate you watching and I love you commenting! 😁🤗

I had one electric canner, then I got a screaming good deal on another one just like it, so I bought it as a backup.
@OpenHandFarmАй бұрын
Good for you Paula! Backups are always good. But using two at once is even better! If you need it that is. I’m so glad you were able to get another at a screaming good deal. That’s what I felt like I had this time around as well. Blessings on your canning! 🤗😁

Get a jiggler for a presto for $9 and there's no need to stand over the canner. Once it's up to pressure you can hear it jiggle, no need to stand watching the dial. In my previous house I could hear it clear upstairs. All Americans come with a jiggle weight too. Mentioning this because I can't afford to buy 2 electric canners and then find a place to store them. I also don't like how they don't hold as many jars per load.
@OpenHandFarm26 күн бұрын
I understand everyone has their own practices that work for them. 😁 I have some issues with sounds effecting me. When I am waiting for the pressure to come up after putting the dial on and the little pipe thing comes up and stops hissing I feel a sense of relief. I don’t think I would be able to listen to a jiggler without driving me crazy for an hour or more and there’s the chance that my mind might block it off. The brain is a funny thing! I do appreciate the suggestion though. I love hearing from you! Blessings friend! 😁

Excellent video! I'm new to electric canners. Last evening, I purchased the same canner and picked it up from Ace Hardware in the next state this morning. They didn't have any of the canners in my state. It was a short road trip (about an hour each way), but I didn't mind, and it was a nice car ride. As I respond to your video, I'm currently canning raw-packed chicken breast. I will pull the pineapple and banana slices from my Harvest Right freeze dryer. Like you, I stay relatively busy, so the electric canner opens my eyes to the possibilities. I often use two All-American canners (10.5 qt and 21.5 qt). When I can use them, I ensure I do a downtime activity, like knitting.

I’m so glad you liked the video! I would say an hour each way was well worth getting one! I would have anyway. Good for you on the raw packed chicken breast. Isn’t it just so delightful to use! And wow what a blessing, I hope to have a freeze dryer someday as well. It sounds like you are a very busy person. I am so glad you responded to the video. It’s good to get to know more about you. Blessings on your preserving! 😁🤗
