Great to see a video like Casey used to do. It's more telling a story than seeing lots of videos of planes etc. I like both types of videos Casey does, but these story telling videos (like the one about the iPod battery and the bike lanes) are what made me first interested in his videos.

It isn't bc police know how to handle events like this even more. Although New Yorkers have a "business as usual" mentality, our hearts always go out to the victims and cheer on the police to catch the bastard.

In other words, its an ignorant city that doesn't give a shit if people get injured or die (unless there are close ones involved) Could use a little EMPATHY.
@JeffreySushi8 жыл бұрын
Is that how you interpret the message? Don't let preconceived biases trick you into forming NYers into their own "ignorant" daguerreotypes. People from NYC, in general, are just headstrong, to a fault even. But that's something we're proud of; no challenge is too great. It takes a period of time of living here before you can understand this sentiment as well.
@trollmygod8 жыл бұрын
Yes let's do nothing that sure will help :D. "so people fight against it by making a point not to let it disrupt their lives if they can."

Nobody died though. What are New Yorkers supposed to do? Perform some kind of false fear and frailty for your viewing pleasure? Life goes on. The best thing to do is to live fully. Thank goodness, there are no lives to mourn over.
@gourdwitch8 жыл бұрын
Look, here's the deal, when you live in New York you kind of have to accept that every time you walk out your door, you are in danger of being blown up. You are in danger of being shot. You learn to live with it, or you let the fear get to you and you get the fuck out. Yeah, to you it might seem like we don't care if people get injured or die, except that's really not true. There is so much empathy here, but there's also a lot of realism about the fact that we have to keep going on with our lives.

I'm not sure there's anything to deal with: the terrorist acted alone, he was quickly caught, the damage of the bomb was limited and nobody was seriously injured. Casey I have been following your videos for the last 6 months now, and I must say I love your stuff. Your are not just a create artist, you are an authentic and truthful storyteller. I normally don't comment on your videos, however I felt especially touched by this short doc you just made. I am fellow film maker and story teller as well, I spent almost 6 years in the news business, I got out because I got tired of the constant fear driving message. Since then over the past six month I have spent my time making movies and documentaries in hopes that my art form will someday make positive and hopefully entertaining impact on culture. This video you just made speaks deeply to the great need for perspective in your culture today, this story you told is nothing short of a healthy one. In this world of growing uncertainty there is often nothing more powerful then a dash of hope. Keep on keeping on good sir love you stuff, be blessed. Sincerely Jensen

I remember back when the 7/7 bombings happened in London, I usually took the train from Edgeware road around the time it happened but had my days off switched the day before so was off that morning. I really remember the first day the trains started again and getting on the Piccadilly Line at Hyde park and I didn't see a single other person, what would usually be a crush was just the most empty train I had ever been on in my life which was unnerving. It took a few days for people to start using it again.

This is probably the most correct video someone can make on an act of terrorism. Show that even with all the terrorists' efforts, the life goes on normally for everyone other than the injured, their relatives and people who have to clean up- that's 100 people at most, out of _eight million_ New Yorkers. More people have traffic accidents per day. I hope for the best for the injured, but the life must go on.

"No, no, we're here to live." - UGH! I love that so much! Many props to this man. I used to be so afraid of death and dying that life was passing me by. This quote right here is how I've been living for the last two years. This world is so messed up.... I'm going to try and make my life clearly beautiful in all this fog.

You have to turn that feature on to get that, or other messages, if you want. I've opted in for all that I can get and usually only get storm and flood warnings. To get a message about someone, or something, deadly is really rare.

I've only been to NYC one time, and that was a year ago this past April. I loved my short time there. This video got me a bit choked up, honestly. I know New Yorker's are a somewhat tight group. There is a pride with being a New Yorker that I honestly don't think you can find anywhere else in this country. I think that any place can become resilient in a time of need (look at San Bernardino), but I'm glad to see that everyone there, at least in your video, Casey, is going about their day as usual, knowing that things are OK. Everyone has everyone's back, even if it isn't verbally said.

I looked everywhere for the music on this video :( Does anyone know where i could find it?
Probably the best quote from all of this, that should be used by media when covering stuff like this; "Have the recent events in the city, like the attacks that happened Saturday, give you any pause about being here? Being in the streets? Your safety? Anything like that?" "No... No... Not at all. We're here to live." This shows the true resilience of the American people, and how the majority of us view the world around us. Bad stuff happens, and there are bad people in the world, but we can't cower in fear. Fear breeds many dark feelings, like anger and hatred. At that point it becomes a never ending cycle. So instead, we pull ourselves together, pick each other up, and push forward. Regardless what the media would have you believe, that is what the true American spirit is.

1:24 I literally walked right by the garbage can in Elizabeth New Jersey the same exact day they found the pipe bombs. Scary to think, they were probably IN THERE when I walked by!!! There was also a homeless guy in a wheelchair near by who asked for change and I gave him like 60 or 70 cents I had in my pocket. But damn... just... damn...

BowWombat ok first im brazilian. osama deserved what was coming to him. And america deserves whats happening to it as well. i just hate when something happens in the US, americans over react and get panicked. When the US and Russia are air striking syria 500 times a day, killing innocent people because they suspect ''isis territory'' when theyre not even sure of it. Y'all aint even going through a small inch of what syria is going through. I am not in favor of terrorism. Just like osama deserved what came to him americans shouldnt be surprised of whats going on in their country. If for once america put on their big boy pants and retreat all soldiers from other country and mind their own business this wouldnt happen. America and Russia always thinking their superior. Even in hollywood movies when theres an attack in the white house or some american government, they'll always say its time to save the world. And by that they mean the US.

Muslims tend to do better if they're shoved off in a corner together and left to their own devices. We should just partition a section of the globe off that they can have to themselves and not bother anyone. Oh wait. We had that. I think it was called the "Middle East" or something.

I live in Chelsea, just a few blocks north of where the bomb went off and only a block away from the pressure cooker bomb that was found on 27th. I could both hear and feel the explosion from inside my apartment. Saturday night I took my dog out for a walk a few hours after the explosion and there were understandably people everywhere. We ran into an adorable lab puppy and stopped to play for at least 20 minutes. To me thats what Chelsea and NY is. We will not let one person keep us from living our lives. We are a community of kind, loving, generous people who love our city and the people we get to share it with. I've never been more proud to call this place home.

I agree BUT I think they are Muslims. There are 2 or 3 different types of Muslims. and 1 believes in Sharia Law. The ones who believe in Sharia Law are sometimes the ones who are the terrorist.
