It's not that they can't (their scientists clearly do use it) but most won't. With only minimal effort, it's pretty easy to do rough estimate conversions. e.g. 1 kg is approximately 2.2 lbs so saying 1 kg is 2 lbs gets you in the ballpark.

The metric system isn't kilogrammes. Kilogrammes is a part of SI, the international unit standard, which contains Kilogrammes, metres, Ampere, Volt, Watt and many more units. SI is the system used in all scientific research and development, but Casey didn't finish college so it's not that weird that he doesn't know what a kilogramme is.

there definitely is a difference between the mics. The on-board seemed more "shallow" if that makes sense. It seems the road mic (I believe that's what you called it) has more range/depth to it

Honestly when Casey said it occurred to him that he traveled 2 days for something that only lasted 8 minutes, I imagined Casey saying something like: "but you know what I would do it all again, because that 8 minutes allowed me to experience something that many people dream about but never really get to. That 8 minutes was the foundation for these last two amazing days and amazing videos and it allowed me to meet so many amazing people. All of these creations and experiences sprung from that 8 minutes, and that is what KZbin is about😇." Am I right?

I'm a sound engineer. Rule #1: When you're going out in the field, ALWAYS bring spare microphones and other stuff! Murphy's law on A/V equipment: if it's going to fail, it's almost never during a sound check, rehearsal, etc; it's ALWAYS at a crucial moment during a gig! (or in this case, during a vlog recording.)
