Some things about the girls that guides won't tell you: Jiu- is a very loving older sister and is very protective of her little brother. She also lets Siyeon sleep in her bed when she is scared and while she herself doesn't like too much clingyness she lets her members seek comfort in contact (Siyeon's pinching, Yoohyeon and Dami's hugging and SuA's touchiness). She is a gym rat who find working out therapeutic. She was the star trainee of HFC. Sua- is very sensitive to the members and gets hurt (physically and emotionally) the most easily. She is also very self critical and strives for perfection. She's like a mom to the girls. She is super outgoing and good at literally anything she tries her hand at. She has the longest training period and was originally in another company. She has an older brother. Siyeon- a loner by choice, she's a massive homebody, cat lover and REALLY loves her little niece. She has an older sister and is actually really introverted and shy around new people. Her excessive smiling in 2022 stemmed from her insecurity at being perceived as intimidating. She has only recently gotten back to her no shits given confidence in herself. She also hates working out despite being muscular. She was in a pop rock band for 5 years as the lead singer, knows a little bit of bass and drums as well. She got into college but chose her career instead. She is also their japanese representative and fluent in the language. Handong- she is a drummer and has acted in a short film/mv. She has a pet cat that she adores and has musical theatre training. She went against her dad's wishes to become an idol and had originally moved to Korea for her studies. She translates a lot of their songs into chinese and was the reason why their album sales skyrocketed after Odd eye. Chinese fans adore her and she had more weibo followers than dc had yt subscribers. Yoohyeon- she is super shy and very very physically affectionate. She has big dog that thinks its a puppy energy and will literally hop on people shorter than her. Siyeon is her primary target to climb onto whenever she is embarrassed. She has an infamous tea kettle screech that comes out when she gets embarrassed. She has older and younger brothers and an older sister and her dad passed away when she was a kid. She is also very insecure about her appearance and abilities and the girls will all constantly compliment to make her feel happy. She is also very hard on herself. Dami- was a mathlete in school and went to the same school as Siyeon. She is a massive SNSD fangirl and very tender hearted. She struggles to open up verbally and is a bit aloof so she usually expresses her feelings through her songs. She wrote once upon a time for her older brother. She used to be Siyeon and Jiu's roommate and still sometimes climbs into their bed to snuggle up to them, its why she is called a panda. Gahyeon- was an honours student and got into 2/3 of the big 3 companies but chose HFC instead because she found out they would let her debut much faster. She invests in stocks and is very wise. She is also very sensitive and hard on herself. Her name is actually Gahyun, she uses Gahyeon because it matches Yoohyeon and Siyeon. She also genuinely doesn't like being called cute by non friends because she finds it infantilizing because the fandom would often treat her like she was a silly little kid even when she was being serious.

To clarify: Gahyeon's name is 가현, but it is romanised as Gahyun on her passport. Gahyeon is the standard romanisation, but names don't always use the standard romanisation (otherwise Yoohyeon would be Yuhyeon). The company indeed did just unilaterally use Gahyeon when revealing her to the public, to match her with Yoohyeon. Gahyun and Gahyeon are not two different names, just two different ways of writing 가현 in Latin letters.

Accurate. The things we Insomnia figure out by watching all the v-lives, watching and reading interviews, DC notes, and even the tv/vareity content. I don’t think their is a group has is more closer together in their relationships among members.. and my second GG is Mamamoo who also have a ridiculous love, frienship and sisterhood relationship between them. I love Siyeon silly aside and that intimidating take no crap sassy side.

This guide was really great so thank you for reacting to it 😊 A little bit about Minx/pre-debut DC: Minx only lasted for about two years before their disbandment. Some members didn't like the cute concept that they had, especially Siyeon and Dami. During the disbandment Siyeon was the most affected by it to the point where she couldn't even listen to music. A few months before the disbandment Gahyeon and Handong joined the company. Gahyeon was a trainee in FNC dance academy before auditioning for yg, sm and dcc. She passed all of them and got accepted but she chose dcc in order to debut faster. Handong came from China to study in Seoul's University, however she wanted to become an idol. Before leaving, her parents made her promise to not even think about auditioning because they didn't approve of that kind of career. She, of course, didn't listen and auditioned for dcc and got accepted (her parents are very proud of her now and they have a great relationship btw.) Both of them trained for 6 months before debuting. When it was revealed that the girls would re-debut with two new members, they had mixed reactions. Jiu said that her first thought to that was "are the 5 of us not enough?" but in the end they welcomed them with open arms. They even talked about their hesitations with each other and the "new" girls understood their concerns but that made them even closer. When they were told about their concept and genre change, they were very concerned and scared that they might not be able to pull something like this off (They indeed pulled this off and are now called the Queens of Rock in Kpop). Especially the choreography (Chase me choreography was considered their hardest until 2021). The industry tried so hard to make them disappear as a group just because they come from a small company. Rigged music shows, mistreatment etc. Especially the incident in 2019 (I'm not gonna spoil it here, but when you watch the "dodging disbandment" video, you'll get what I'm talking about). I said "a little bit" but I wrote an entire paragraph 😅 sorry about that. But I'm really excited for your Insomnia journey! Also, get well soon Bri! ❤️❤️

They have had it rough their entire career, which is why it took more than five years for them to FINALLY get their first win at one of the shows that give cash prizes for winning. They are considered a 'fringe' group that a lot of wealthy people wish would 'just go away'. They are 'the Black Sheep' of K-Pop. Being fringe', they have literally been sabotaged AT LEAST once that EVERYBODY knows about because the scandal blew up. The mistreatment of this group is ongoing because they have remained true to Rock for all their Title tracks on all of their albums; they REFUSE to give that up in order to pander to the industry or the money men. As AWESOME as we KNOW they are and have always been at music, in all the years they have been a group (coming up on seven years since the Re-debut), they still have a Grand Total of FOUR wins to their name. Other groups have over a hundred wins with far fewer songs. If ANYBODY tries to tell me those shows are not rigged (especially against Rock or Metal), I will laugh in their faces for being idiots or naive 'poor sweet summer children'. But these ladies are still plugging away, still on the grind. The level of determination, the grit, the mental fortitude, the endurance, is insane. That is one of many reasons this is my Ult Group. But then as I mentioned in a different comment section, they are SWEETHEARTS, NICE, GOOD, KIND people. They really deserve the whole world. Nobody deserves success like GOOD people deserve to succeed.

Your reactions to SuA as hell boy was exactly like mine when I first saw her😂 dreamcatcher, especially SuA, always have really fun costumes for their Halloween concerts. It’s just another example of them being funny, chaotic, and themselves. I’m sure you both will have fun seeing more of that energy in reactions in the future.

There is this very old vlive (2018 i think) in which siyeon and dami decided to go walking from their dorm building to the company building (its very close by) and dami basically spent the whole live guiding siyeon away from the cars cause girly kept spacing out while being too focused on the screen and she would wander to the middle of the street all the time 😭

Jiu was a perfect fit for Minx because that's who she really is, as becomes obvious when you watch her off stage. She's also a very good actress so can play any role given to her. Siyeon and Dami were not happy in Minx, but the failure of the group was a hellish time for all of them. We can be happy looking back that they became Dreamcatcher, but at the time they thought it was all over for them. It literally took years, five years to be precise, for them to heal from the trauma. That healing occurred at their 2022 Halloween concert when all 7 performed Love Shake before a live audience. The crowd loved it and they had a blast doing it. Healing complete.

Watching their live performance for Love Shake... I'm always left speechless because I myself have tried to be cute with my body language and facial expressions. Always fail and is f amazing how natural the sweet flirty vibe flows from the f seven members. Is absolutely NOT easy but they do it so effortlessly and look so mf good 😭♥️♥️♥️ The contrast of who they are as entertainers and idols (range going from effing spooky, to sweet like heartthrobs), and who they are as normal citizens... is so cool to watch 🤗♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ They really pull off the cute bubbly concept as greatly as they pull of the scary rock one. Gahyeon is easy to understand. When she is deliberately being cute she expects to be called cute. When she thinks she's being cool then you'd better tell her she's cool. I've always thought Dami was on the high functioning end of the autistic spectrum. Surprisingly many entertainers are. It takes massive confidence and a powerful drive to be a performer in order to overcome the instinct to avoid becoming the center of attention. She still prefers to work on song lyrics alone in her studio. She was almost as quiet as Handong especially in those first few years, but Handong was quiet because she could barely speak Korean, and most of the time couldn't follow the conversation. Dami was always in the back monitoring whatever live broadcast they were doing and watching all the other members to see if they needed anything. She was the only one who didn't cry when they won their first music show award. She said she had to hold in the tears so she could look after the others who were turning into hot messes. It's amazing how the seven of them fit together so well. Whatever the need is, there's always at least one of them that can fill it.

I must argue that you DO have confidence; You are both KZbinrs. There are other KZbinrs who don't even show their real faces on camera. Some have Virtual Models to take their places while others don't even bother with that much. And there are BILLIONS of other people who are not ever seen on camera at all. So, you do have confidence. You have infinitely more confidence than a LOT of other people from all over the globe. I think you are both AWESOME for that. :)

Dreamcatcher is one of my ultimate groups of all time, they are a very underrated group but not at the same time (? they have 4 wins on music shows and they have had awards, but in Asia and south korea they are not that popular (even tho they still got 4 wins on music shows), but if you look at overseas/worlwide nations, they are always in the top 10 groups with most fans behind BTS, NewJeans and blackpink. They are one of the few unfiltered idols out there that is not afraid of showing who they are, that's why they are so extra lol. When i was only a BTS stan, i was looking for another group that gave me the same excitement when watching them, i found DREAMCATCHER around 2019 and i don't regret it. And they have the same background as BTS, coming from a small company, being not so popular, DREAMCATCHER is slowly but surely dominating the world ♥

OH MY GOODNESS YES! Sorry I'm late (just watched the rest of the Dreamcatcher videos that I missed), but I am so glad that you guys checked out a guide- though it is not the greatest. It was very good but they definitely missed some iconic moments (Gaycatcher, Handong being insanely strong, showing their cover to Really Really, etc) but that's okay, I can't wait for y'all to check all of that stuff out (definitely check out the This Is series as well as the rest of the MV's). Also let me just say at 25:40 that reaction made it 50X funnier, I was smiling and laughing the entire time! Also if you guys want to check out more Girl Groups I'd recommend checking out Red Velvet next- same with Dreamcatcher they have INSANE vocals (with personally my favorite vocalist in K - Pop, but I will say A LOT and I mean A LOT of Girl Groups/Soloists have absolutely CRAZY vocals and of course visuals, rap, etc.) They also have an amazing discography as well (y'all should check out their comeback and their Killing Voice)! Anyways I can't wait for you guys to react to more Dreamcatcher such as more Music Videos, B - Sides, Live Performances, Covers, Dance Practices, Moments, and Ships! This was such a fun reaction to watch! I feel like you’ve picked up on the members’ personalities so well even when some things weren’t specifically mentioned. Other tidbits about the members which almost never get shown in guides: - If there was an actual President of the Insomnia fanclub, it would be Jiu. She lives and breathes Dreamcatcher. She will always look out for Insomnias in a crowd and meet eyes with them. The look on her face when she talks to or about Insomnia is so genuinely filled with love and gratitude. She often talks about all 7 members being family, being together forever, being bonded for life.. she even set in motion each member buying a Chanel friendship ring to represent their bond. - Sua is a perfectionist with work and is incredibly detail orientated and known for being immensely professional. She’s often just typecast as “the loud one” or “the sexy one” or “the chaotic one”, but she is such a hard worker. Her list of skills are insane, she’s really such an ace. She will also make herself be loud and extra purely to cheer up the other members or to take the spotlight off them if they aren’t feeling it. - Siyeon is the ultimate homebody and baby. Girlie doesn’t want to go out ever. Also the Minx disbandment really took a toll on all of the members but especially Siyeon, so she really puts her heart and soul into every performance and absolutely relishes being able to make the sort of music DC makes. - Handong seems to have a special place in every member’s heart. She’s the member who can get away with being ridiculously cheeky or savage (especially with Sua, no one else gets away with cheeky behaviour!). They missed her so much when she got stuck in China and they will take every chance they can get to shower Dongie with love. - Yoohyeon also often gets relegated as “the clumsy goofy one” but girlie is so smart. She also seems to be really emotionally intelligent and she’s very empathetic/open minded. She’s also super hard on herself (unnecessarily!). - Dami is an under the radar social butterfly. She has a quiet demeanour but she has friends all through the industry and gets close to idols, staff, producers, their backup dancers etc. She seems very genuine in the connections she makes. - Gahyeon is mature and super pragmatic. She was very academic outside of being an idol, and she’s interested in things like finance/investing. She’s totally a hidden unnie.

I will just add here ( I feel like the guide doesnt do her justice😢) Everyone always sees gahyeon as the cute maknae but shes so much more than that!! Shes actually super smart ( in math for exemple) she has a good memory and helps members remembering their schedule 😂 im super happy you notice that shes really mature as well !! I enjoyed watching this with you two, as someone who is quite new to the group. I was introduced to this group by one friend, during a Spotify listening party we did. Then a little later on, another friend sent me Siyeon's cover of Speechless, and *I* was speechless! Yess loving this Dreamcatcher journey, I love how you guys are able to see their personalities, they are so different off stage and they each have such different personalities that you actually end up falling for them all😂 And actually you described Dami perfectly which I haven’t thought of before, you’re right it does seem like the stage is her comfort and she really does go into this different persona because off stage she’s more quiet and totally adorable😹 Just know that you just dove a LITTLE bit into them, once you start watching more videos you’ll really see what kind of a group they are, they’re seriously amazing.

Thanks for reacting to such a long guide. Not every reactor does that, which is understandable, but learning so much about the members definitely helps as you get further into their discography. You should also consider watching mera's Dodging Disbandment video for context on Minx and the turbulence of their early years (you can take the latter part of the video with umbrage but not outrage, though, as the fandoms feud with The Show has cooled down now that dc has two wins with them). The way the video is presented and the story it tells makes for a good reaction, but even if you don't want to film it, you should definitely still watch it.

Siyeon and Dami are my biases. Dami from the start with Boca (my first song), and Siyeon when to got to Piri (5th song in my journey). I am an introvert, and I keep my emotions very in check and am only chaotic when I am with my friends. I open up and will become talkative when I am comfortable or the conversation is about a topic I am dedicated to- sports, anime (to a degree), video games (to a degree), music, movies. I find I am the rock when others are sad and in need of comfort. I will also listen to others concerns even if they just need to rant. The times I have been sad I tried to keep myself from breaking down because other’s around me were and I felt I needed to be an anchor for them.. even if they were also trying to be one for me so I could cry. Dami and Siyeon’s protective, caring natures while also being silly speak is to me. JiU and SuA are my bias-wreackers. Handong.. well that one is special for she is my wrecker of wreckers. Odd Eye was my first comeback, so when Handong retuned she spent Odd Eye hunting me down to the point where prior to BEcause she was killing me as much as JiU, SuA, Siyeon and Dami do. The reason I have 2 biases- I can’t choose who I love me between them.. it’s also why I don’t have an ult bias, so Dongie is just the one that wrecks my biases and my bias wreckers. Yoohyeon loves to get in on the wrecking but Dongie jumped a head of her in the degree of the wrecking.. for along time Yoohyeon was causing trouble for me outside of Biases and bias wreckers.. then Dongie came back with a vengeance. I have particular weakness for- purple Jiu, blonde jiu, black hair jiu, pink JiU blonde Siyeon, blue Siyeon, red Siyeon, Boca Siyeon, Vision Siyeon silver yooh, blue yooh Piri Dami, Boca Dami, blonde Dami pink Gahyeon, odd eye gahyeon blue Dong, blonde Dong, Vision Dong The No Dot part of the solo segment had no chill.. no matter if it was the US Save Us tour or the European Follow Us tour. I saw them during the Save Us tour, watched many online concerts and watched many Fancam from other concerts/tours can confirm when not singing-chaos.. no.. scratch that, chaotic even when performing songs where choreography is not involved. If you were to ask an non insomnia who the leader was I don’t think they would choose Jiu if you just showed random clips and made sure none of the other members refer her as leader in said clips. Most not familiar with DC nor the roles probably get Gahyeon as Maknae, but Yoohyeon or SuA or possibly Siyeon would be their guess as Leader. SuA also choreographed a Tollow cover and DreamCatcher’s b-side Demian. SuA May not be lead or main vocals (though she could just like Yoohyeon could be main) she has the highest note range- never looses a Cleopatra game, on a show where they played a game of going though the scale and each time the light was higher then the next SuA got 1, Dami got 2, Siyein got 3. JiU and Handong have recently gotten to show off their high note capability too. And people are alway surprised by not only how Dami sounds when singing but how high she can get- Shadow, a song she did with Siyeon for an OST that has 2 versions comes to mind, the slow version particularly. Their covers.. basically when they do a cover the song belongs to them after be it an official special clip cover or a concert cover. I love you, event horizon, Oort Cloud, switch to me, honestly, Fadded, Speachless, we all lie, paradise lost. Overdose, blind days, beleguse.. basically anything Siyeon sings, secret love song, Perfect, mood, touch, monster, NDA, 25, snapping.. anything Handong covers and most of them are Chinese, lucky strike, a new world, baby don’t stop, Maria, nothing holding me back, that’s what makes you beautiful. Siyeon’s latest OST- Don’t Go Back is money as is her cover of Start Over. Something, Abracadabra, My House covers definitely live rent free in my mind along with many of Siyeon’s covers and some of the other solo or duo covers from other members. I saw you watched “this is (2023), but I would also recommend the other years as they are different from 2023. And I would also recommend Insomnicy’s Duality series is a great way to see member duality. And their chemistry series is a great way to see the dynamics between two members, I think most have been done.. SuA and Siyeon and JiU and Yoohyeon may be missing but there is plenty of fan made content about those two skinships. Insomicy has so many great montages and other series- introducing, Siyeon.exe, Handong vs Korean language, Gahyeon being done with unnies, yoohyeon challenging the heiarchy, ect. Jiu is the only member with Visual as official role, but they are all visuals.. 7 vocalist, 7 dancers, 7 rappers, 7 visuals. Of all the members, I love Handong’s tone the most. I could listen to Siyeon and Dongie sing all day. They all have different tones and thus each provide their own distinct colors, even with Jiu or SuA can sound similar to Siyeon or Yoohyeon or even Dongie using her lower register and being similar to Dami. Part of the reason Dongie went to do Youth with You was to get more confidence in her vocals and stage presence; this plus her growing confidence and comfort with speaking Korean helped her overall confidence grow. I always say the Handong that left for China and Youth with You is different from the Handong they can back and I adore this new Handong.

But the members say, generally speaking, SuA seems to be very outwardly emotional. I think they've said she's sensitive and can't hide her feelings when she's upset or hurt.

Yep no one told y'all that we also call them Gaycatcher. That is an actual vlog. She did include behind the scenes into it but that was literally the vlog. Yoohyeon did one similar with her just going "ah~?" Siyeon is very powerful I'm surprised that she hasn't managed to hit feedback on a sound system or two. Oh yeah and we're all her wifey. I'm kind of surprised that this guide didn't mention the tattoos - Siyeon, Dami, and Yoohyeon all have real tats (Siyeon - neck, left shoulder (front), and right back/side, Yoohyeon - right rib and left arm, Dami - right shoulder (back) and left arm (back)) everyone else uses temporary tattoos. Their animal emojis were picked by themselves and are pretty representative of their personalities and/or looks. Dodging Disbandment is good, it's also 3 years (ish) old. It does touch on more of Minx, but didnt have the information the ladies have disclosed later on - that they were consulted about the change of concept and asked if they felt as though they could pull it off, and that Jiu was the most worried since it's nearly a 180 of her personality. Siyeon also mentioned during a live that she was deeply unhappy during Minx because it was so bright and cheerful. For a while, Siyeon and Dami refused to even talk about Minx, Dami mostly because she didn't want to and Siyeon was very, very hurt by the disbandment of Minx. Siyeon is the crybaby! She's the one that will tear up the easiest.

The orange one is Nimbus (he'll be 2 next year!) and the solid gray one is Jinn (he rarely sits still for long). Both of these are Bri's cats and the most common in our videos. You seemed to really enjoy the clip of the survival show that Handong did in China, Youth With You Season 2. I watched the entire thing because of another contestant on the show and had watched for several episodes before I realized that it was the same show that resulted in Handong having to stay in China for most of 2020. The moments you saw in this guide are seriously about 50% of the entire screen time she got on the episodes. And so do not seek out that show if all you are interested in is Handong. IIRC, there was a supplementary video for YWY2 of her discussing why she went on the show, and she was quite explicit about not liking only being a "subvocalist" for Dreamcatcher. Now, that interview may well have been prompted by the show's producers, but there may well have been a grain of truth there. However, her Chinese agency did help her make an album during the pandemic, and it's pretty clear that the other members of DC did miss her. And I think she had a much greater sense of belonging when she returned. Clearly, like all the rest, she had no qualms about re-signing the new contract with DCC.

Mera's video "only" covers the first 3 years of Dreamcatcher plus the MINX era before but put's the journey of MINX / Dreamcatcher into the context of the industry (who's also around at that time, etc.) which nobody else did. It has great editing, several very funny sections/comments/clips and makes you understand how hard it was for them for 5+ years. It show's stuff that went wrong and where they were pretty lucky to get out before it exploded (MIXNINE). Speaking of MIXNINE: There is a video showing the selection process within Happyface when Yang Hyun-suk (Founder/CEO of YG) was at the company selecting the male participants from Happyface. Some things I recommend to watch: the solos of Apocalypse Save Us, Siyeon covers, Yoohyeon covers, SuA dance covers, Dreamcatcher's mind was so good, also, Japanese releases, Dc covers in general are better than the original songs IMO. Also you need to watch the Crossroads Concert. It was an online 2 days concert that they did during the pandemic and the first day all the songs were rearranged to live acoustic versions, and it was excellent. If you do decide to watch the 'dodging disbandment' video, there's a couple things to know first. Firstly, it probably does the best job of any guide at giving a history of the groups first few years, so it is very much worth watching just to have that background understanding. Secondly though, that video is also very much a moment in time within the fandom and may leave you feeling a bit up in arms. It was from before Dreamcatcher had won their first music show and there was still a feeling among much of the fandom that the industry at large was kind of against the group succeeding. There were some more and less valid reasons for fans to feel that way at the time, but the creator of the video later said in retrospect they would have made it differently and wasn't fully happy with it.

yes siyeon exudes confidence but even though her looks might seem fierce and strong aura she's also the cry baby of the group she easily cry and gets emotional pretty fast, I think the same goes with Gahyeon, then I would say JIU or maybe Yooh💙

Jiu will always cry first. Gahyeon can be emotional, but she has a very powerful sense of professionalism so she won't cry if she needs to sing. Dami doesn't cry. Handong rarely cries and when she has it's been connected to missing her family in China. Yoohyeon can be emotional, but you'll need to watch Dreamcatcher Mind to fully understand Yoohyeon's duality. Sua rarely cries but when she does it's massive. Siyeon cries at the end of concerts because she doesn't want it to be over, and she will cry when the other members express their love for her. Considering the hellish nature of the Kpop industry they're all very emotionally healthy, thanks to the genuinely caring nature of their company and their close knit ties with each other.
