@vmizzell my local meteorologists are pretty darn good. They tend to be conservative in their long range forecasts and they are usually right. Of course, in this area, five inches is barely more than a dusting, a plowable snow, not a big deal. Our DPW crews are also good at preparing for snow, so half a foot of snow is just a minor nuisance.

The problem with “30 degrees below average” is that we don’t know how the average was calculated. If you look at the average from 1960 to 1980, we are likely to even get below the average. If you average only the last 20 years, then maybe we will be that far below the average. Averages can be manipulated easily and without knowing the period used, it is a meaningless metric.

As a skier in Michigan I'm GLAD we are actually having winter this year.

Where? The midwest is very dry in most places despite this guy saying MN would get a lot of snow too.
@ChadDad148812 күн бұрын
P.S. resorts often make a lot of artificial snow btw.
@andyd837012 күн бұрын
I'd rather ski on artificial snow than NO snow because it wasn't even cold enough...
@andyd837012 күн бұрын
@ Last year was hardly cold enough to do so...

@ I'm just asking because most ppl I talk to in the midwest havn't gotten snow yet, you would be an outlier is what I'm saying. This guys predictions have been wrong all winter for MN so far.

I live ON Lake Michigan in Sheboygan Wisconsin. We haven't had a decent winter in YEARS. We need the bitter cold to freeze the lake top to slow down evaporation. Evaporation happens 365 days a year here. We need to snow..lots of snow. If you have snow you don't want? We'll take ir! 😂😂. We need it so when it melts in April and May our forests will stay lush and green and our little creeks, streams, waterfalls don't dry up. The little critters need this. So, bring it on. It's mid January, it's Wisconsin . It's SUPPOSED to be cold.
@CMNTMXR5713 күн бұрын
We need ZERO snow and the mess it creates. I am so thankful I have not needed to put the plow on the truck so far this winter. Haven't had to pile it up somewhere to watch it's misery and road salt encrusted sucktitude melt over the next 3 months. Unfortunately for the dustings we have gotten, they've dumped the beet juice liberally and then turned the salt trucks upside down with the level they've dumped. I can't imagine if we actually had snow!
@rivjoy13 күн бұрын
I guess you are on the wrong side of the lake. Here in w. MI (20 minutes from the lake) we have plenty of snow, mostly from lake effect.
@clairewyndham197113 күн бұрын
@CMNTMXR57 where are you located?
@clairewyndham197113 күн бұрын
@rivjoy yes, thats true. The prevailing winds are coming in from the north and west..as it hits our area, it blows to you folks. Then it picks up moisture from the lake..you folks over that way get the full storm.
@clairewyndham197112 күн бұрын
@rivjoy yep.. I usually take the S.S. Badger out of Manitowoc and it berths there in Ludington. Thlighthouse there at St. Joseph is one of the most photographed ( in the winter when everything is incase in ice) in the United States.
