I wasn’t going to comment because everyone has a different opinion. But I want to share my experience. I lived in Florida for 10 years. I really liked it. I had a great group of friends, my kids were born there. We had a pretty nice life. But my husband is Spaniard and every time we would visit Spain, we would say that we were going to retire in a village in the mountains in Spain. Long story short, we moved to Spain. 4 years ago. It was difficult, specially for me, but now I feel more at home. We live close to the sea in Galicia, I have a garden to take care, I grow crops. It’s a very different lifestyle. I love to go to the small business and buy meat, fish, bread. And the cafeterias, the cañas. We don’t regret it at all! Sometimes I will miss target or tjmax and chipotle. 😅 And I do find the Spaniards very attractive. The great thing about Spain is the cultural diversity. You went to Barcelona and it’s so different to Galicia or even the north area of Portugal. And don’t feel pressure you are so young! Good luck in whatever you chose

I live in a large urban county in Texas where there's a major public hospital. In case of a major health problem, I would have had no option except to go to that hospital and wait my turn for treatment. Also, since I wouldn't have qualified as indigent in Texas, I would have been burdened with medical debt for the rest of my life. Thank goodness for Obamacare. You can get insurance as an individual with a preexisting condition(s) now although it's expensive. It's better than nothing. As someone with OCD, I actually don't follow or really believe in "listen to your gut"! For me, gut means anxiety and that's no way to make decisions! Instead, I make big (and even small) decisions based on values. I have literally ranked them by what is most important to me.. family, money, adventure, work, etc. It gets more nuanced than those big categories but you get the gist. Of course, that list is malleable based on how my life is going and what I learn about myself along the way; it just offers a direction to move forward and removes fear to ensure I'm making decisions based on what I do want to happen, not on what I'm afraid might happen. Anyway, just a different perspective that has helped me with over-thinking and finding more peace in life.

For example, in just the labs in Rochester we have over 4,500 employees and we all work collaboratively together. When covid hit we were able to design a lab test, validate it, and offer it in 3 weeks...3 weeks!! At one point in the pandemic we were doing 40,000 tests a day for patients all over the world. The power of collaborative medicine on both a large scale and an individual patient scale is truly astounding. And you're totally right about Chester's! Order a dessert or 2 to split with family. Chester's chocolate cake fixes every bad day.

So glad you talked about the amount of time KZbin takes. As a fellow creator, this segment really resonated with me. You wanted advice about how to figure out where to live. From my 62-year-old perspective, it boils down to logistics and safety. So much of daily life is logistics, particularly when you have little ones that depend on you. How easy and safe is it for you to get them the best schooling you can afford? What does that schooling look like? Ask the same question about the best medical care for both you and your family. How easy is it to make healthy life choices? Then look at giving them interaction with nature, other cultures, and mental stimulation in general. Lastly, but maybe the most important - community. Kids that grew up around kids that had goals (music, art, writing, dance, sports, faith) and community aspirations (giving back, helping others, making the world better) almost always become flourishing members of society.

At 50, it’s been a real struggle recently to figure out how to deal with such finicky skin these days. And the Nyx Born to Glow? 2 for 2! As someone who still has CYO in my vault 🤫, but happily spends what’s needed for good foundation, I’m again shocked. I’ve already purchased 4 more, just in case 😄. And as a long time viewer, I’m here for any long term commitment you might want to make with international living. You’re still incredibly young and I feel a year in Scotland or Spain is the next reasonable and logical step. And medically, it’s only a flight home. And with setting down roots, you may find it helps with your stress, anxiety, and health.

Taylor: First, thanks so much for your videos. They’re always a bright spot in my day. And, second (secondly?), I was 35..almost 36 when I got married. There was always a voice inside reminding me of my age and that I was single..haha! But, it was weaker than my desire to do what I wanted and what fulfilled me in my career, surroundings, lifestyle, etc. So, when I finally met my husband, I met him on my own chosen path , not one that theoretically would have introduced me to “suitors” earlier. I know there are better words to convey my point. But, basically, you need to do you so that when you meet the lucky one, he will meet the most “you” you.😊 thanks again.

Loved your comment. I'm about to turn 34 and am often the only single one in my various circles (work, law school, etc. ) at this point I can objectively say it's not me. I just think timing plays a huge role in meeting your person. I feel like I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing and there's not much more I can do. I've learned to tune out the outside noise but still feel a little pressure.

I'm 31 now too, in my final year of psychology (yay me), then onto honours/masters to be a clinical psychologist and the one overall message I've learnt from my experience and education is to take the freaking risks and trust your intuition (there's a lovely theory called the happenstance). You've managed to take risks and follow your heart and things have turned out. Yes, there's complications, but you've overcome many obstacles in the past. Keep doing you Taylor. I've been following you from the start and never seen you as happy and authentically yourself than you are now.

I'm from SoCal and have lived in Philly for the last 8 years. I have met my best girlfriends here. I love it here so much and this city is still so underrated. I'm glad to see you enjoyed it and even consider moving here! You should! Also, almost everyone has a dog or cat and are so friendly and easy to meet. Best of luck to you and whatever path you take will be a great choice!! xoxo

As a "parental devil's advocate", I say when you're ready to settle down, stay close to where your parents live (unless they would move to wherever you chose to live!). You don't have to be in the same city or even the same state, but close. When you have children, being close to grandparents is so important, not just for them but also for your parents and you! Grandparents are the best babysitters!!

Having spent a lot of time at Mayo- Rochester for my own health and many family members I cannot say enough positive things! Hearing you talk about your process to get scheduled there is a good reminder of how fortunate we are to live only 1.5 hours away❤ I would highly recommend staying at Brentwood Inn & Suites! It’s connected to the main campus via underground tunnel which is super convenient. If you’re looking for any other suggestions let me know!

To your life question advice, you just never know lol... I met my husband (we live in Minnesota), we sold almost everything we had and moved to Alaska, then we moved back after 9 months because it didn't work out.... basically you could move somewhere, and you can always move back 😊 I struggled with feeling like a failure for a little bit (because we thought we would be there forever/said bye to tons of people), but then realized we went there on a mission, completed the mission, and then we moved back and had a beautiful son, and now are buying a house. You just never know til you try. And we will never regret going.

I work with Mayo, currently in Rochester but I also worked in Scottsdale and I’m so happy you were able to get in. I’m biased to Rochester because I grew up here and the campus is so beautiful and huge. Either campus you choose you’ll be taken care of- providers consult between campuses for specialties when needed too. Best of luck with everything!!

I think you make your life work as it happens to you. We moved 6 years ago with the plan for it to be a permanent move because I don’t like change. Covid changed how my whole family feels about our area, but we are working through it rather than start over somewhere else. Every place will have its challenges and you have to choose what matters most to you. I think Spain sounds like a great fit for you and I will certainly still watch whatever videos you put out. There are a lot of content creators making it work with big brands in Europe and it will help that you have so many loyal subscribers.

I've been married and have 3 children so I feel comfortable speaking on this. Something I wish gets told to women more often and normalized more, don't rush. Make decisions on your terms and your terms only. Only you know what's best for you. Live your joy and passions and then once you do decide to settle down and have a family they will be better for it. Because you are happy and content and ready to share yourself. P.s our country is a whole hot mess and our quality of life sucks, your subscribers will still watch if you leave the country. Thank you for your content ❤

Wherever you move to it should be a place of course with healthcare you need, but I say to have an exit strategy just in case the place doesn't work out in the long run. Don't be like me and stay someplace for 15+ years when it's not totally the vibe you are looking for - if it comes to that point, or earlier. I'm making it work the best that I can but it's not an ideal way to live. I pray every day to be able to do the best I can in my situation. It could help to have some family where you end up choosing to live as well. It's felt to me for a long time that you could be my little sister. I'd never steer you wrong. You have my support. Lots of love.

"choosing between lives" is EXACTLY where I'm at right now. I went to Portugal last year to scope it out for potentially moving there and I'm so torn on making the move. I love the European way of life and would love to spend a few years there but I also have some long-term goals that I want to start working on sooner than later that I wouldn't do in a different country because ultimately I think I'd come back to the US at some point. But I've always been a believer in doing what 'feels' right and I always get the sense that Spain is right for you when you talk about it or when you're there. Also, while it's not impossible to live internationally with a partner/kids, it does become more complicated so I definitely think you should do it sooner than later if that's what your heart is asking. For reference, I'm 35 and in the same boat so you've got time, my friend!

My honest opinion on the topic of choosing where to live and a life path, is, it doesn't matter where you choose to live. You don't have to make a decision for the rest of your life on the next move. You have options. I will tell you, as someone who has lived away from family for a long time, you eventually feel very pulled to be near loved ones as they age. Very difficult to be away when health issues start with parents, etc. Don't be afraid to make a choice, it isn't set in stone. You won't make a mistake because you can change your mind.

I know you're getting older Taylor, but if your heart is with moving to Spain, just do it! Don't let fear stop you. Never regret a decision. You don't want to look back in the future and regret not moving. Do these things while you're still single with no ties! I travelled and worked abroad for years, and i don't regret any of it, in fact i want back out of the UK and to live in Europe again. I'm much happier there. I'm working on potentially moving in the near future. Do it! 😘💜🏴

As someone who moved to Europe when I was 30: 100% do it. I actually moved for better access to healthcare, because I have type-1 diabetes and there’s a massive insulin crisis in the US. In Germany where I live now, my 3-month insulin supply costs 10€ with the public insurance, in the US it was $60 with insurance-that alone was a huge difference for me, but the biggest factor was access and affordability of medical technology like insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors. In the US I was denied coverage for a CGM because I “wasn’t sick enough.” I also had to pay a /lot/ of money (thousands of dollars) for my insulin pump. In Germany I was immediately approved for both and they are COMPLETELY FREE. It was, hands down, the best decision I ever made for my health and quality of life. I know you struggle with chronic illness, too, so I think it’s important to really consider healthcare in your choice.
@erica.explores Жыл бұрын
Also: I took a huge pay cut moving to Europe too, I make about half what I did in the US. But it was worth it, and when you factor in cost of living differences and healthcare costs, I actually have more disposable income after taxes and bills than I did in the US which is WILD.

I’m in Philly and moved here from DC 10 years ago. It all really depends on the neighborhood regarding making friends, things to do, safety, etc. I LOVE my hood and have grown to absolutely love Philly. There’s a huge sense of community and pride throughout the entire city, and you’re close to so much, like you said. Dating…. Suck. I can’t put it any other way. 😂 Happy to give you more details! I also travel internationally and often end up going to Newark to catch direct flights. I don’t travel internationally nearly as often as you, but I love our airport.

I’m from the Philly area, have lived in the city and the burbs. The Philly airport is an American Airline hub, so I have rarely had to go to Newark or JFK; but then again, I don’t travel as much as Taylor. I love that Philly is one of the few walkable cities in the US. My sister lives in Atlanta and I considered moving there after a divorce. At heart, I am at Northeast girl; also I could never deal with Atlanta traffic. I plan to retire in Portugal.

Appreciate the Philly love! I was born and raised there. Not only is it an easy trip to NYC, but also DC, the beach and the mountains. The one thing is the unsafe neighborhoods look so bad, that when i moved to Buffalo, I couldn't recognize the bad neighborhoods because they don't look that bad.

Regarding oversharing: when I was super young and just starting to use the internet, I read this incredible piece of advice: Only post on the internet what you would be comfortable displaying on the roof of your house. I have followed this advice for over 20 years now and I have not regretted a single picture, post, or comment I have put out there. I was able to imagine the scale of visibility of my online footprint from a very young age and it has helped me tremendously. ❤M

Moving to a place is choosing a life path…you’re not overthinking it. It is a big life change and pressure…pick a place that you love that fits your long term goals. Spain is wonderful! You’ll take a pay cut but you won’t have to pay for healthcare and your quality of life will be so much better than the US. Love the journey…maybe you’ll fall in love and that will help solidify your decision 🥰
