My wife had AT3W put on here 4x4 Nissan frontier and she was happy with them so when my Silverado 1500 4x4 needed new tires I put a set of AT3W on it as well and I absolutely love them. No road noise, awesome grip In all weather and didn’t affect MPG at all. Would recommend these tires to anyone with a mid or full size truck that wants all terrains.

I have Wildpeaks on my F350, F150 and had them on my Bronco Sport that I sold to my son. I did two 5000 mile trips last summer, from Minnesota to Jasper, Alberta and another trip to California with my F350. My F350 has a Four Wheel Camper, 1100 pounds, in the box, and I tow a 5000 pound 7x16 enclosed trailer. Both trucks 2023, the day after I picked up my trucks at dealership, I had the Wildpeak tires installed. I previously ran DuraTrac tires. They were very good tires, I tend to do several big mile trips in nasty weather every year. Most of the trips are towing. The Wildpeak tires are the best at nasty, snow, rain and off-road that I have run. That’s why they are on all my trucks. I’m running F-rated 35x12.5x18 on F350. Running E-rated 285x70x17 on my F150.

I bought a set when Falken first came out with these for my jeep. 29in $80 each. Total was 500 something with a lifetime warranty. I ended up giving them to a friend that needed tires. I was moving up in size. I do miss the look and feel of them but they have since more than doubled over the years. Great tire and they still have lots of life on them.

I also switched from KO2 to AT3W for pretty much the same reasons you mentioned. My KO2's were a death trap in the rain. These AT3W's have been fantastic in every condition so far. FWIW mine also required alot of weight to balance.

Just put a set of these on my ‘17 f350 and I’m very impressed this far. I’ve always been a KO2 guy but my last set wore out incredibly quickly, leading me to search for other options. Snow performance is my primary motivator for an AT tire, and the AT3W does incredibly well. As well if not better than the KO2 which I found to be the best of the bunch. Tread life is still yet to be seen, but performance so far is exceeding my expectations.

I am on my second set of these tires. I drive an 18 Tacoma (BP51s, NitroGrear UCAs, 488 gears..etc). I live at the base of Snoqualmie Pass and usually go out for about 10ish hours on one of my days off (1-2hrs hwy, 8hrs offroad). These tires are fantastic. They are great on the hwy and especially when it's wet or snowy. I air down to about 9 PSI offroad religiously, and I have never got a puncture, flat or done a bead. I never want for traction, unless it's really deep mud. But for reasonably muddy trails, this tire is great. My first set went to 70,000 miles (I do rotate at 5,000 miles). And I am around 40,000 on my current set. In my opinion, you can't find a better all-around AT tire. And you get what you pay for. When you are on the trail or a really snowy pass, you're not going to care about that extra $200 bucks. But you will care about the extra traction these tires provide.

On my third set of Wildpeak AT3's on a 2019 Tundra. I get about 50k per set so far. They have seen every kind of road and off road condition besides deep sand and slick rock (need to get to Utah someday). I've got lots of tow miles on them as well. My toy hauler fully loaded with water, gas, atvs, etc is around 7500lbs and no issues so far. No road noise and no change to fuel economy for everyday driving. Prices seem reasonable for what you get for your money. Previously ran Ko2's on my rigs but much happier with the Falkens. Great tire at a great price.

I'm on my third winter on my f350. The first winter they were great. I have an incline to my shop and in slippery conditions I could backup in 2wd. 2nd year not so much. Once the tire wears down it gets harder. They're still alright in 4wd but the siping doesn't work as well from the stiffer tread.On the plus they wear like iron. I'm right around 70,000 and slightly over 1/4" of tread left. Almost bought a new set for this winter and was going to run out the ones I have this summer but decided to run them. The tire does stay true, especially on a straight axle. When I take them off to rotate they stand up on their own. The only way to get the best winter performance is to get a winter tire. They just have a lot more sipes and the compound doesn't change. The wild peaks are a decent tire and would buy again.
@looseaxles
@looseaxles Жыл бұрын
Great feedback! I am on the same boat as you - you cant replace a dedicated winter tire, especially a studded one. While the Wildpeaks do a great job, they aren’t a “true” winter tire. I also have the OEM/factory 33" AT3Ws (on my 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon) -- one day I took a total of 110 pebbles (yes,I counted them) out of them. Amazing. Mine still look good (after just over 3 years of ownership, but only have 26K miles on them) so I'm not sure how long they'll last. But when they DO need replacing, I may get AT3Ws again and pass on the new AT4Ws...unless the AT3Ws are discontinued by then. But also by then they may have AT5Ws! Who knows. ;-) I think they're more @ home in CO (snow/blizzards, occasional rain, mountain passes/trails & forest service roads off-roading)...not so much here in too-hot almost-all-year-long West TX (no snow, little rain, mild off-roading on gravel/rocky/dirt roads and sometimes deep desert sand) -- or central FL (no snow, just rain and NO off-roading to speak of -- I don't do mud!). Yeah, CO is my Gladiator's best home for sure... -- BR

What made you pick the AT3W over the R/T?
@looseaxles
@looseaxles Жыл бұрын
Great question! I think a major factor for me was the 3 peak rating and the added winter performance of the AT3W. The R/T looks like a fantastic tire, I just didn’t see the need for a RT tire for my applications as I do a lot of city driving and cold weather driving here.

It’s hard to say exactly how much it affects it as I can’t control for too many factors, but I’d say it’s about in line with other 35’s!

Have you tested them on packed snow or spring snow? I think those conditions are the ones that really put tires to test. I have KO2s and they have been really good on winter conditions overall even after 70.000 km of use (except wet asphalt roads), so for me its hard to believe that falkens are better on snow

Great question! I’ll have to check that out after a few more months here. My suspicions say the newer AT4W have them full depth, but these look comparatively.

@@looseaxles thanks for the reply. I’m also in Alberta. On my Silverado 3500 I’m running Duratrac tires and they were awesome the first winter, but after I put about 20,000 on them the sipes are way less and there is a noticeable decrease in winter traction. I’m looking for new 3peak rated tires and I’m trying to decide between the Toyo AT3, Falken AT3W/AT4W, and the new Duratrac RT.

Shame we can't get them in the UK or Europe, we only get the atw3a which is basically a lightweight road version. Ugh. That said, I've never had a ko2 hydroplane even at 70 in standing1" puddles. They have no wet weather grip, but they don't hydro!

I wanted to put 35’s on my 2022 gladiator Mohave it came with wild peak 33’s, I didn’t want to change the factory rims to 12.5 from 11.5. So I couldn’t get wild peaks in 35’s and did Toyota open country’s, I miss the Falkens wild peaks, they are better in the rain and snow. I made an expensive mistake

@looseaxles I went with the recommendations as well as the comparisons between the Bah ha bosses against the falken wildpeak AT3. I will admit my Wife was right and I was wrong. I should have stuck with the Wildpeak AT3. But, my next purchase will be the AT4. The only thing. Good about the Bahha bosses was they looked sick. Well looks definitely don't ✂️ it. My truck is a 2017 Ram Rebel. The size of the tires are 285/70-17. Most of these youtube gurus promote the tire company that give them the most cut back.
