I feel like the Izzet Synthesizer deck is better anyway because of haste giving options like bitter reunion and dowsing device, as well as Skitterbeam Battalion for the combo with synthesizer.

I don't understand putting Zoetic Glyph on Schooner instead of a map token. He said that a map token allowing a 1 drop to potentially attack for 2 was more powerful, but doesn't Schooner guarantee a 1 drop attacks for 3, guaranteeing lethal against a sunfall?

Man that was painful, but yeah that throwing mouse to face is just absurd damage when no instant removal is at hand (and even when you have it), OH but when I play it my opponents are full mono removal and when I play mono removal my opponents are discard deck, Arena top experience :D, and yeah CGB the double strike thing the mouse gives, is only to other mouse.

Wasn´t lethal with cake on board anyway, Beza was safer play. But the game was decided when glyph was put on schooner, instaed of map. Schooner is just haste creature after boardwipe.

LOVE the breakdown at the end. Its ok. Its horribly frustrating to play the same jank every game, combined with the "smoothing algorithm" makes life horrible for anyone NOT playing 2 mana decks like mono-red.

I'm glad I'm not the only person hating this meta, around 80% of my matches are against monored or discard. Red in particular got way too much of it's value in it's one or two drops for the set compared to the other colors, even green with their 2/1 for G is not even close due to not actually impacting the board state.

I've started putting Requisition Raid in my white decks to deal with Forge and/or Caretaker's talent. It's never dead because of the +1/+1 option, and for 3 mana it kills Forge and Talent. Pretty good.

Wizards needs to pay more attention to best of one. No reason that mono-red should be able to this consistently win before the opponent gets a turn 3. It's ridiculous. I think the Sellsword is a ban-worthy card in best of 1.

The shuffler has been so bad since bloomborrow came out. My starting hands suck, I always mulligan now. Plus I've seen more floods and droughts. Then you throw in the discard meta and mono red, this season is going to be rough

For the past two years or so, maybe more, I've only played Brawl in Arena - Standard has been a once-in-a-blue-moon thing for quite a while for me. I played a domain deck for a bit until rotation now, and it was fun, but that's it. And this, this video, is why I just can't get into Standard even if I try. Don't get me wrong, my Brawl decks tend to die to aggro just as much, but Brawl's meta is far less of a one-trick pony and thus I actually get to play some matches. And I get to play cards with a mana value greater than 2.

Seriously they need to ban burn together/sellsword. That one card is basically warping the Bo1 meta completely around it to a degree that if you don't happen to stack at least 8 peices of early interaction you are going to die and will have probably sold out any hope of dealing or outrunning the solitaire strats like forge and/or combo. Even then you'll only draw enough of it to have a fighting chance only about half of the time.

The biggest reason why decks like Boros Forge are viable in bo1 is because mono red and its stupid relatives are everywhere. Aggro isn't keeping the meta in check like mono red players tend to lie to themselves, but it is keeping the meta hostage and Boros Forge is one of the weird cures. When people run four copies of temp lockdown, I have seen aggro players argue that aggro decks have to kill on turn 3 because temp lockdown just destroys their deck. So everyone -- except aggro players -- is told to build their deck properly to adjust for the meta, but aggro players can't be expected to play or build around one single card that comes down at sorcery speed at turn 3? Great, then let the speeding up trend continue in favor of aggro players. Can't imagine how that can go wrong.

@@leibnizlaw to be honest, aggro in pure red cant really build much around temporary lockdown due to it being an enchantment/they are already doing what they can with all the haste creatures they run to push through it even if it does come down. 3 mana sweepers have always leaned formats more towards more control-y formats, especially in BO3, so it is true to an extent that in a format with 3 mana sweepers the aggro decks need to get under them, but mono red isnt just getting under these decks with close lethals or with an haste threat post sweep, it is now easily overkilling at turn 3 when they have a great draw. Especially in a format with pain lands this makes other decks be unplayable which is what i see happening moreso in these videos. Anyways, my point is, the aggro players are right in that argument, but only in a broad sense, right now it is not just getting under midrange/control decks, they are killing their opponent when they only had a chance to play 2 lands on the draw. But speaking of the video now, the deck barely respects aggro at all, so it obviously loses to it consistently, it is why cgb made the video in the first place. In best of three with an aggro deck, it is usually better to run your linear gameplay plan game 1 and then adjust with your sideboard, it is completely different to BO1 meta where you need to deal with what people play the most or just lose more frequently. That is exactly what this video is showing.

Mockingbird on Beza was definitely the play, but I'm pretty sure if you Glyphed the 0-damage map instead of the 3-damage Schooner you'd have won on that turn. And been safer vs Sunfall, since if they did it they wouldn't have enough mana to make a blocker so the Schooner gets in the next turn regardless.

It was pretty clear that he made the play because he forgot about Cake gaining life and how his 1-power flyers wouldnt be lethal the next turn if opponent had spot removal for the angel. But even with that, its still a worse play because you dont auto-win if opponent has sunfall (Schooner attacks for 3) AND you don't win if opponent has the spot removal for angel whereas glyph creature + schooner are both lethal AND you get an extra Explore trigger by crewing the Schooner.

24:40 mocking bird copy their forge creature. 5/1 flying haste trample. It was then revealed that they had a get lost in hand, but they would have had to use it on the 5/1, or block with their own 5/1, to stay alive. In the turn before that, mocking bird should definitely have copied their Beza. Mockingbird is so sweet... best new card IMO. Gives you a chance to come back using opponents cards, and it just makes for really creative deck building.

Correct, at 19:14 AIR MAN has one untapped colorless mana, meaning he got nothin'. CGB hit a Siren on top with Map #1, so with the other 3 Maps on a 1/1 means five damage flying to face.

Im happy with mono blue aggainst mono red. Still slightly unfavored but with a good winrate on the play , while clowning on conrol. Still.. This consistency of turn 3 kills is not healthy for standard.

Everyone complaining about Bo1 standard being trash need to remember this tiny little detail...WoTC has never, and will never design a standard legal set with Bo1 in mind. Want a better experience, play Bo3. Want to grind out rank and dailies as quickly as possible, play Bo1.

@chienlinchen8877 WoTC doesn't care how much free time the players have. The convenience of having mtg available to play wherever there is internet available in the world on your phone/tablet has warped the expectations of its player base. It is fantastic that anyone who loves mtg can now play whenever they have 10, 15, or however much time is available. Before this app, players had to meet up once a week to play their favorite format, if even that. When you did meet up, it was usually for at least an hour to play. So again; if you want to grind through rank and dailies to get all of the available rewards, play Bo1. If you want to play the game we all know and love, with all the convenience Arena has to offer, play Bo3.
