I love playing my Gruul Dinos in casual queue and (obviously) run into tier 1 control decks a lot (I mean: Why play tier 1 decks in ranked when you can grind out long games in casual queue with them ?) and - imho - your good results vs. control were a bit skewed because you happened to have Cavern of Souls against all control decks. Having Cavern vs. not having Cavern is a huge game-changer in those match-ups, especially with big haymaker top-ends like Vault Tyrant.

The more I've watched this and other similar versions the more it feels like Calamity itself is just a bit of a meme. You're just better off playing a different, better card in its place imo. Your deck is loaded with good stuff. You don't need calamity to do stupid shit. If you're playing calamity and going off with vein ripper or tyrant you likely would've had a good chance anyhow just because those other cards are good. Maybe this should just be golgari ramp? I think two more go for the throats are likely just better than the two Calamity, even.

Honestly I really enjoy the Izzet prowess deck even though after playing it to Mythic last month (and it was bo3s that got me there so don't even 'bo1 meta' me) yes it is for sure just... not as good as other versions of the deck. It's got fun tools imo but it's just not that good and you can feel it. Really the salt seems a little unwarranted for a kind of bad deck but I've said some pretty nasty salty shit about the midrange black decks that totally shut me down with discard and removal so I get it.

It is extremely frustrating to watch this cause i really wanna try this deck but with so many modal spells and tutors i can assure the game will crash at any and every critical point. I've lost count of how nany games ive lost because the game refuses to work properly at crutial moments like when declaring blockers or casting an instant, especially when it is a tutor or a modal spell, even something like an adventure. Worst yet I've never seen an mtg streamer have an issue like that so im starting to feel targeted.

I think the salty is fine. Maybe a little rude in certain senses, but also not wrong. Cards like Slickshot turn the game into a coin flip, and that coin flip is not engaging or entertaining.

Spelunking way better than topiary, it makes Gitrog lands enter untapped and lets you chain with cards drawn with gitrog. also running 4 copies of glimpse the core gives the needed acceleration

@@yavivanov6650 Ironically Timeless is a much more enjoyable format, despite having many more cards and cards that are far more powerful. There is just something about a Standard with so many cards that is sort of sad, there are too many cards in the format to play jank but not enough to have a diverse metagame, so all you see is the same few powerful decks over and over.
