Thanks. Japanese transceivers are also my favourites. The antenna makes a big difference on HF. Followed by atmospheric propagation conditions and lastly the RF TX Power. On a good propagation day with a good antenna, I use 5 watts and reach USA, EU and SA countries very easily. To reach Africa, Asia and Oceania, I set my power to 20 or 25 watts. This is enough power. I don't want to work my FT710 too hard on FT8 and FT4. 20- 25 watts out of 100 watts max is 25% of its power handling capability. No chance of overheating my FT-710. My home made 9:1 BALUN and 1:1 Balun both can handle up to 500 W.
