Nope. The comedy here is average compared to decent literature, the fact that you think this is gold is as bad as people who consider anime aimed ar young adults gold instead of naruto and related things aimed at teens. Sam Hyde is not your pal. The fact that you find him relatable because he is making comedy for you is as bad as people finding relatable naruto. I am not defending anybody here, it’s just cringe to see people thinking to have value because they’d appreciate Sam Hyde, who is good at being funny for his target audience. Even if it takes slightly more internet literacy to appreciate Hyde whatever that is, your remarks still feel like an obese man being proud to be faster than most turtles. Yeah, then there is the turtle who is not just a weaboo and can read books in Japanese and runs faster than the obese man. Obvliously there are also men who know physics and run faster than the fastest turtle but fitting in a category doesn’t make you like the best person of that category, otherwise being all human we are all the same.

I love how he starts out with the thinly veiled praise of Japanese culture then moves into mocking it seamlessly. Total classic maneuver. It's so strange that they choose to walk out right then...after all of that. I was stationed in Japan for a few years, speaking a little Japanese will get you by, not everyone hates gaijin so much. But if I had to live there as a civilian, getting a normal job and all of that, I would rather kill myself.

Jimmy Russels This guy doesn't know shit about Japan. He did not say one thing about Japan in the whole 45 minutes. About working in Japan though, it really isn't THAT bad. Just don't go there thinking that you're going to some sort of Otaku haven and that the Japanese are perfect and capable of no wrong. The Japanese are actually incredibly passive aggressive and vengeful as co-workers. You will have no problem, as long as you realize that when you're told to come at 8am, it means to come at 7am and to understand that sickness is not real, fuck you, come to work, 38 degrees is easy mode. Mess any of these two and you'll feel the payback through the shifts you get, your work load or just straight up getting fired. As long as you can do that, you can survive in the Japanese workforce.

The entire point of this lecture was to establish Japan would not be where it was today without American influence. It hardly is the pure vision of itself many would like for it to be. Essentially, the issue with Japan is it is edging into Western individualism without abandoning old tradition of the collective whole. This leads to isolation in those who find themselves breaking free of the Japanese hivemind, which is why many young men in Japan become isolated Otaku to find escapism. I feel like Sam's valid point is somewhat diluted by his attempt to "rock the boat" but bullshit aside he has valid ideas.
