12:18 Tip for anyone frustrated by Malenia’s Spin To Win: There is one semi reliable way to counter it. Something important is that if an enemy gets frostbite while winding up an attack, the frostbite will cancel their attack. Freezing Pots just so happen to cause just enough Frost Buildup to instantly give Malenia Frostbite, and Malenia’s Spin Attack has a Windup length that leaves her open long enough to finish a movie. You can probably see what I’m getting at. Whenever she’s leaping in the air, that is your cue to hit her with the equivalent of a concussive grenade; not only will this damage her if it connects, but it will allow you to get in some free hits *and* temporarily increase the damage Malenia takes by 20%. This trick turns Duck Dance from one of her most terrifying moves into target practice. There’s a catch though, there’s always a catch… Every time she gets frostbite, she’ll gain an increasing resistance to Frost. Which means that after 3-4 freezing pots, she’ll resist frost enough for the Freezing pot to not cause enough frost buildup to stun her. After that, you’re outta luck buddy.

Frost Dragonhreathe works too. She is also very weak to bleed so Swarm of Flies works okay, and Mohg’s Blood Trident destroys her. You can also use Bloodhound step to avoid it completely easily if you run away, to dodge with step, and then dodge in with the step.

The Ash of War: Barricade Shield on a 100% Physical Damage Reduction shield can withstand Waterfowl Dance as well. Malenia will still heal a little off it and you'll still take a little damage off the last hit, but you'll live. I think you'll still get Scarlet Rot buildup from Waterfowl Dance in Phase 2 though, so watch out for that...

The easiest thing that always works, without healing her, is to just learn to dodge the attacks normally. It's very easy to pull off, people just rely on varying strategies that will prevent this from being realized. Blocking will heal her even if you don't get damaged, parrying will heal her if you are summoning/summoned Online, she is guaranteed to dodge most ranged attacks unless she is already in animation, and stunlocking is poor form, but congratulations I guess to the people who decided they need to exploit or abuse some aspect of the game. Neither quickstep nor pre-nerfed Bloodweeb step is required, you can avoid all of it unless you are 'fat' or exceeding weight limits.

fun fact about Malenia: she can't dodge Invisible Sorcery like Night Comet, and her AI in phase 1 is coded to take the hit, side step, run toward you for a bit, then walk. as long as you wait for her run stop and walk she will only ever do Waterfowl once in phase 1 at 70%, if you hit her with a 2nd night comet right after she side steps she will ALWAYS waterfowl. phase 2 has more openings, fully charged night comet with 2 gemless staves and other relevant buffs and accessories can down each phase in 10 hits.

I can't really blame him for dialling it back - he said in an interview that (if I remember right) it took a whole day of work to edit 5-10 seconds of the most insane early footage. That simply isn't sustainable in the long term.
