The slicing was actually fairly unique for the time and still is, I played it on pc recently and to get some extra BP(the currency of the game, rewarded for many things including breaking objects past 100 pieces) and I went wild, eventually I did notice how inaccurate some objects were past a certain point, but if you break these things *like a normal person* then yes it's very accurate. But if you push it past its limits you can easily see the possible ways they prevented it from being too intensive on the ps3 which is nice they optimized it in such a way. Infact you are rewarded extra BP from precision cutting enemies as well, 100 extra from destroying their body behond recognition and a max of 300 I think from cleanly separating their: head, right arm, right leg, left arm, and left leg. And there are some enemies with collectable left arms where cleanly cutting off said arm is required. And I mean cleanly, it is very finicky with how it counts you getting that thing.

as for Sam's thighs, Samurai (his fighting style is a type of kenjutsu), they rely on having strong ground foundation and the thighs (quads and hamstrings) allow the basic movement for the techniques. Since Sam is mostly not a cyborg his exoskeleton just shows off his muscles.

So some backstory on Raiden. He was born in Liberia as Jack, and was a child soldier. During his childhood he proved to be an excellent killer, which is why he was brainwashed by an Illuminati-type organization, gets like 90-95% of his body replaced with cybernetics and gets broken free of the brainwashing to join Snake in fighting the Illuminati. Right now, the only fleshy bits Raiden or Jack has are his brain, and maybe like the most of his upper skull. And even that is kinda questionable. All of this led to what we see in Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, as it is/was the most modern Metal Gear game timeline wise. GOD I wish they made a sequel to MGRR
