‘An incredible honour’: Australian service members to march in Queen’s funeral

Lieutenant Colonel Elizabeth Anderson says being chosen to march alongside the Queen’s coffin at her funeral on Monday is “humbling”.

So proud. I'm an English born, but Australian bred . I now live back here in the UK, in Stoke-on-Trent. I worked for the MoD in a non civilian role with the Royal Navy on two occasions, and worked along side Navy and sometimes Royal Air Force engineers. Australia was always one of the first up there when required. Never changed , never will. God bless the Queen , long live the King.

As a Brit I was so pleased to see our Commonwealth brothers and sisters taking part in a wonderful event and indeed leading that very poignant march out of London as they bore their Commander in Chief to her rest. Every part of the sad events of the last 12 days has been done utterly flawlessly by the UK Forces. Who cannot be impressed by those 8 lads of the Bearer Party who never put a foot wrong under the glare of the world's TV cameras and yet 2 weeks ago were in Iraq. But those 142 Naval ratings pulling the gun carriage. Wow! Well done each.

We have such a close history and I feel that especially related to the monarch, he is the King of Australia, just as much as he's King of the UK.
