You are doing gods work sir. Digging the way you deconstruct stuff. Big fan of small things like having coins on the ground incentivizing different behaviour. Definitely sending you a build when I arrive at a playable version :)

Never seen someone question the pronunciation of Barrage before lol. Fun way to open, but now to focus on the game: I think that having a camera centered on the player at all times is fine, especially in a sort of bullet hell-like game - Vampire Survivors is like that for example - but I do feel it's a poor choice with such a tight camera zoom, watching this footage I feel like it's really hard to see enemies while maintaining a distance appropriate to dodge projectiles, so you're kind of in a tight ring where you're either blindsided from being too close to react or blindsided from being too far to see. The running around in circles is an issue. Dr. Joe brings up what cult of the lamb does, but for a game with a bit more comparable combat options, Enter The Gungeon tends to prevent the simple circle kiting in 2 ways: enemies are able to lead their shots, and a lot of enemies have a sort of AOE that spreads bullets in a wider area instead of just having a single projectile per enemy. They mix these two fundamentals with some of the more obscure attacks (e.g. homing attacks, attacks that go in weird spiral movements, attacks that bounce off walls) to really challenge the player's positioning.

I can definetly see the inspiration from risk of rain and Hades in the clips you showed. looks good, the art style is really good and i agree that a little zoom out would make the game feel more comfortable. the drop of things as enemied dies that encourages you to make the decition of walking back or keep running is definetly something that should be there, that makes the game less "gtfo of here at all times" lol. idk if it was because of being in a video and not actually playing, but i felt it was a little slow too. still, overall looks really promising and your review was perfect, thanks for showing the game!

Thanks for the love on this one folks! I was starting to worry the deep dives were never going to start getting as many views as my more shit-posty content. 🎉👨🏻⚕️ 1k in a day is amazing.

Well, the run away while shooting seems to be popular to some gamers lately. Not saying I agree with that cause as you've said it that it gets old too soon and nothing else to do to survive.

The thing about something like Vampire Survivors which makes it work is that it’s a mix of very very causal controls with very very hardcore progression/loot mechanics. It’s why it works. Because you’re able to focus so hard on just moving into space and picking the best next thing for your load-out.

Can’t believe I just misspelt “casual” as causal on my own comments smdh

Yahhh i don't like games that's relentlessly have zero downtime with enemies streem without stop.

When it comes to stuff which is actually finished and released, I only really play it if I genuinely like the look of it. Not enough hours otherwise.
