An Inside Look Into The Philippine Army Officer Candidate School

The Philippine Army Officer Candidate School, located at Camp O'Donnell in Capas, Tarlac, trains enlisted personnel and individuals who holds a baccalaureate degree. Unlike the Philippine Military Academy, The cadets are trained in a one year leadership and management course which prepares them for service as a probationary 2nd Lieutenant of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

I'm an American soldier (since 2010) and a former Philippine Army soldier (1996-2007). My high respect to all comrades in arms. You have my snappy salute! Sa totoo lang mas mahirap ang training diyan sa Pinas (mas 1. brutal, 2. mahaba/matagal, 3. kulang sa pagkain, 4. kulang sa kagamitan). Facts comparison: US Army Basic Combat Training is 9-10 weeks. PHI Army Basic Training is 6 months. US Army Ranger 'School' is 62 days. US Army Ranger 'Assessment and Selection' prog. is 8 weeks. While the PHI Army Scout Ranger Operation Course training is 8 Months + more during 'Test Mission' against REAL enemies. (Wala silang totoong Test Mission katulad ng sa FSRR bago maka graduate). Meron sila dati sa 'RECONDO' pero tinanggal na kc merong nasusugatan at namamatay noong Vietnam war era. Kahit saan man sila mag set up ng detachment or temporary camp meron palaging portable kasilyas/kubeta. Merong supply sa tubig, hand sanitizer, sunblock, etc. Habang sa Pinoy talagang pure 'Survival'. That's my honest and humble experiences. Kaya dapat ipagmamalaki ninyo ang mga Pinoy Warriors.

Here in America once a kid reach 17 years old pinapaalis na mg mga parents at mag solo na magsumikap. Americans are not CLOSE Family oriented people kaya napaka slim chance ang Nepotism. Walang palakasan, walang kamag-anak. Pati nga kapit bahay mong higit na sa 20 years hindi mo pa rin kilala ang mga NAMES nila kc nga walang paki-alamanan.

Although may priority courses taung tinatawag, kapag nag excel ka nmn is high chance na makukuha ka. Dapat din po ay wala kang problema sa Medical exams👍

I belong to P2LT course class of 1977 at 2ID camp capinpin, tanay, rizal. It w as a six months course. During that time the unit was called 2nd brigade separate before it became officially 2nd Infantry Division. The class instructors were SR and SF a bunch of tough mean m...f... received my commission in 1978 activated immediately after a month of receiving your serial number. GO ARMY!!!!

Why does PA OCS take one year? Even USMC OCS is “only” 10 weeks. US Army OCS is mga 90 days lang. Utol ko, degreed from La Salle, went in Enlisted in the US Army as Specialist, got Naturalized, then applied for and got accepted for OCS while deployed in Afghanistan. US OCS was developed to address officer shortfalls from WW2. Kulang West Pointers and ROTC grads noon. What is the purpose of PA OCS? Kung one year forever then what if there is a real shooting war which threatens the country? Baka tapos na ang guerra nasa OCS pa ang mga opisyal na papalit sana sa mga na KIA.
