#Marines with the Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard prepare for an upcoming show on MCLB Barstow.
The MCLB Barstow Mounted Color Guard was founded in 1967 by Lt. Col. Robert A. Lindsley and is the only remaining mounted color guard that carries the Marine Corps colors and the United States ensign at various events.

During the 1930s my father was assigned to Marine Barracks at Great Lakes. During the winter as Sargent of the Guard he patrolled each Marine guard location by horse. There was really no snow removal and the horse was the best vehicle.
