An Interview with Her's for Selector Radio

Notice: We are truly shocked and saddened to hear the awful news this morning that Her's have died in a car accident along with their tour manager in the US on their latest tour. Audun and Stephen were two of the nicest guys we’ve had in session for Selector Radio - our thoughts are with their friends, family and fans.
The seeds of Her’s have well and truly rooted themselves in Liverpool, UK. Originally a meeting of minds between Norway’s Audun Laading and Barrow-born Stephen Fitzpatrick, Her’s forged a strong chemical bond through a mutual love of off-kilter humour and outsider art.
Having clocked over one million streams between the two tracks on their debut single ‘Dorothy’ and ‘What Once Was’, and after following it up with the lackadaisical thrift-store humour of their sun-bleached single ‘Marcel’ and the exhilarating surf romp of ‘Speed Racer’, Her’s released a rollicking document of their infant career so far in 'Songs of Her’s', a collection of all their recorded output to date.
As well as recent support tours with Wild Nothing and Dutch Uncles, Her's greatly impressed at six SXSW showcases and returned to accompany Happyness on their UK tour.
These outsiders are leaving a trail of bleeding hearts and dropped jaws. At this rate, 2017 is theirs.

Just discovered these guys only to find out what happened. Christ almighty, what a total waste and tragedy of 2 kids, really. You could hear them going somewhere, they were so talented and excited to show what they could do. Just 2 kids chasing a dream to end like that...RIP fellas, thank you for everything.

My sister died in a car wreck when she was 26 along with her husband and a friend. This story reminded me of her tragedy and I feel the pain for their family and friends. Thank you for the great music that others will most definitely come to enjoy.

@Smõl PeePee I’m grateful I found them. We shouldn’t constantly be sad they are gone, but we should be happy they lived. I will definitely remember them for all my life. They were so freaking talented and they had so much ahead of them. Just sucks their talent is now gone. And no one, and absolute no one will ever replace them.

I know what you mean… I used to listen to their songs for comfort and to calm down and what happened to them devastated me so badly that every time I hear them play my heart breaks. It does physically hurt and it’s a strange sensation. Their music almost seems haunting now, in a way. Hauntingly beautiful. RIP ❤

So sad I have only heard of these two cool dudes as a result of the tragedy making the news. I am going to have a Hers binge here in the workshop today. I am an English guy in France and this certainly sounds like music that The French would love over here. Got that cafe-jazz vibe but way cooler than that! As a fellow musician I find this absolutely heartbreaking... You sound awesome. I am sitting here scratching my head trying to pigeon-hole your sound, and I can't which is the greatest compliment I could pay any group. RIP guys. 😎😎

I lose friends because I call them ****** ****** when they attempt to drink and drive. I am not the **** they are. I tell you, I have prevented a lot of accidents over the years. Anyway, thats not why we are here. So what do we learn from this?: 1) Do not let ANYONE drink and drive. 2) Life is cruel and can be short for sure, we must NEVER procrastinate and in the words of the great philosopher Shia le Boeuf, we must all 'JUST Do IT'... Follow our dreams just like these cool dudes were doing.... all before that last grain of sand runs out. 3) Whatever you say about these guys, they did make it out of the bedroom, but so so so sad they were taken just before the big-time, and the doubtless endless festival tours began. As a fellow musician, I am going to push even harder now. RIP these guys, bless them all.
