Respect for this dude. Tried to do something different from every other guitarist. I appreciated the work he did with RJD. Strange Highways was a sick album. 🤘

We use to rehearse next to each other at LP Sound. WWIII were dress rehearsal everynight. Chet Thompson was the guitarist and the drummer and bass player were different than the album. We use to go in their room and listen to them. Heavy as fuck. Then the album was released and it was Tracy, Jimmy and Vinny. Great line up also. Always great to hear Mandy.

Tracy G is never boring! He has a way of injecting insane chromatic melodies, without sounding like some meaningless jazz phrasing. Also he is a great rhythm player on top of that.

Thank you for this! I hope some day more people understand the amount of guts it takes for an artist to try and be different in front of so many people. Thank you Tracy, for taking a chance. As a fellow guitarist, I appreciate what you do. I know he won't care about the deniers either way hahah keep it up brother!

I only recently ”got” Angry Machines. It also opened Strange Highways to me. It took me time, but I finally got what Tracy G is about on those albums. If you happen to see this comment, thank you so much for your music, sir! I like the combination of both the tasteful classic (respectful to Iommi and Campbell) metal sound and the more modern touch including that cool ”metallic-monster” (sliding up or down the string) sound you make. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone else do it quite like that. Also, excellent song-writing, grim and heavy as Hell🤟🏻👹😎

Tracy G really put his all into Dio I remember how he did completely his own thing instead of copying Vivian Campbell, at first you think that's not the Rainbow in the Dark Solo But Tracy was hearing another level of the song "Strange Highways " is my favorite Dio album after the first 2 Great rhythm great guitar Different than everything else out there in this genre

You shred!!! My favorite performance by you is the live recording you did with DIO, “Mistreated”.. I love your embellishments in the song, how you threaded it together, plus your epic guitar solo!!! Holy shit!! You were in the stratosphere!!!!!! Gives me chills just thinking about it!!! You did it so seamless with Rainbow’s “catch the rainbow”…. Geez….super epic!!!

I recently watched a Dio tribute video and saw the band play Stargazer. The guitar player was Tracy G. By far the best guitar rendition of this song, better then the original. I am a 46 year old guitar player that has just experienced Tracy. G's music and I am hooked. Hope he is still playing out as me and my 11 year old metal head, aspiring guitar player son will be in the front row. Tracy, your tone, feel, everything is just amazing.

Hey Tracy, great interview or chat, whatever you call it. When you are done your solo and are exhausted, I think that word that the term that you might want to use is being emotionally spent. You are exhausted from putting so much effort and/or emotion into your playing. I really like your style and enjoy listening to your playing. You definitely have your own unique style. You really don't sound like anyone else. Keep up the great work. You play so well, even when blindfolded! lol.

Very cool to come across this, I had the privilege to jamb with Tracey and Butch in an attempted resurgence of Riff Raff in the late 80s.I was out of my league, Thankfully it took them a while to figure it out. I still have the demo cassette of the song AC DC. I was ultimately kicked out of the band for bringing my girlfriend to practice and riffing too much. Typical 80s Bassist. She was my ride. LOL

Mike Harris I’d say he could shred and did a good job making strange highways. I don’t like any of dio’s guitar players that much. But he was very solid live.
@mikebleeker58645 жыл бұрын
@@guitarwithjamesoffical both of you have got to be kidding right, dio worked with Iommi, Blackmore, Vivian Campbell was 17 years old on the first Dio album ; all the first 3 albums were Campbell, then replaced by Craig Goldy who was a great player in his own right, Strange Highways has amazing guitar work, then Doug Aldridge from Whitesnake , Warren Demartini from Ratt, Rowan Robertson, Jake e Lee, no he never worked with any great guitarist, you guys are out to lunch : Ozzy gets a lot of credit for having good guitarists so should Ronnie, also ronnie was making music since 1964 so you guys can take a hike
@guitarwithjamesoffical5 жыл бұрын
Mike Bleeker I hate to say it but ozzy always had better more memorable guitar players. I’m only looking at the songs that came out. 17 years old. I didn’t know that. That is a crazy level of talent. But really other than stand up and shout I don’t remember anything of the solos. If we are talking riffs then yeah ozzy and dio guitar players are on equal playing field. But solos. Not even close. Thanks for the response though. I don’t get to debate these things on youtube often.

@@guitarwithjamesoffical , of course Randy Rhodes was amazing an actually the ultimate sin album, with Jake E Lee is one of my favorite Albums Unfortunately bark at the moon was over played and Ultimate sin was over looked but the truth is I have always been a bigger RJDio fan ozzy was just a bit to whiney of a singer for my liking but anyway on Guitarist I have way to many favourites, I really like George lynch , he is a very busy guy, hardworking and constantly putting out music with so many different people
