A little introduction into the world of chicken karaage.
This is Akko's (my sister-in-law) first video that she made from start to almost finish (I did some minor tweaks on the editing side). She filmed, wrote the script, and edited the whole thing. She even narrates! I'm really proud of how far she's come. - Greg

I think this is a great first video, and I look forward to more from Akko-san. I also appreciate that the narration was slow and relatively simple so that it doubles as a good listening exercise for my Japanese lessons.

Hahahaha, I was getting ready to write this comment, and then the last shot distracted me completely :'DD This is such a good video!! I like the humor (see: that final shot), and the mix of factual information and impressions from everyday life. And as someone who is still only a beginner/early intermediate at Japanese, I really liked listening to Akko! She talks clearly and at a speed that allowed me to follow along without reading the subtitles in parts, that was neat :D I hope we see more from her on this channel!

For some reason I missed this video on the day it was released, but luckily the YT Algorithm recommended it to me anyway. I love this kind of video's, talking about a relatively simple dish in a soothing voice, and yet it shows a lot of different facets of typical Japanese life. I would not mind watching more video's like this 🙂

Great video! Loved the humor. I think the onion enzyme is protease. I learned that from Gokushufudou. The first karaage I had in Chicago wasn't super crispy like American and Korean fried chicken. I loved the doughy texture so much that I hosted a couple Karaage Crawls before the pandemic. This video inspires me to start it up again

the honest opinion, is that it's very evident that this video wasn't made by greg, and it lacks the flare. my constructive criticism: it's very show and tell, and therefore very fragmented. meaning that it's a bit too shallow, and very template, and does not go deep enough compared to the other videos. depth of the video could manifest as a deep dive the technicalities of how things are different, like the rice cooker video, but generally, its usually about what those things *mean* to different people in japan. asking the question, *why* different families does karrage different (like maybe its a regional thing from your grand parents), or *what does it mean* for your family karrage to have more onion than other places that kinda thing. it needs a bit more depth in exploration

I'll pass on the feedback to Akko. I purposely put this on the X channel as it's a bit of a place to experiment. I really like digging into every detail until I satisfy my curiosity, but I'm also wondering if some videos can be not as in-depth, like this one, but still something that people can learn from.
@acasccseea4434
@acasccseea4434 Жыл бұрын
@@LifeWhereImFromX i understand your point! it is nice sometimes to have something no as in-depth, but then i think this style of video could either be much shorter, or much longer. an 8-10 minute video still makes you pay full attention to the video throughout, but i'm not getting alot of excitement from it, it's information sparse. it could either be a 3/4 minute super cut video, or like a 20min relaxing video that i can put it on the side. to be honest, i'd push for the more relaxing 20minute video where i can kinda soak in the experience a bit more
