An introduction to Radiance Films, a new boutique label for Blu-Rays in the UK.

Always good to have a new label bringing good films to we Brits (and any other interested people, naturally). I have the Elio Petri ordered, so should be here any day. I’ve not come across your posts before, so happy to watch your comments. I’d prefer less about what things look like, as that’s mostly stating the obvious and more about reviews of the films and on-disc extras, as succinctly as possible. Ideally, you’d show us what things look like whilst sharing your review of the on-disc delights we can look forward to. Radiance have started with some interesting films, the majority of which many labels seem to be releasing less of, recently. Maybe the folk behind them are also fed up of the more populist releases of others, too. I hope so. The Fun City releases seem to be more populist Hollywood fare, so maybe these delineations will please lots of buyers. Thanks for this!

I’m tired of these limited copies. The only reason for limiting anything is they don’t think they can sell enough copies. Using FOMO as their sale tactics . Criterion puts out superior movies and I don’t ever remember any of their films being limited. They do go out of print eventually but it takes a long time for that to happens . Limiting films means eBay flippers buying them out just to charge you triple . I had to pay a ransom for imprints 1 and 2

I'm not saying that there's nothing to the idea of FOMO helping them sell copies, but I would point out that a lot of these smaller companies do limited releases so that they can let the licenses lapse. Criterion don't limit their releases but they are pretty much the only Blu-ray distributor in existence that holds that distinction. Even distributors whose releases aren't explicity limited usually eventually have their releases go out of print. Criterion can avoid that and it's probably something with them being as huge as they are. TBF I don't think that's quite the case here as I think Radiance are saying their releases are gonna get Standard Relases (so the Limited Releases vs. Standard Releases is probably just to save money on booklets etc. in that case). It might be like Indicator though where (I think) not all of their limited releases get standard releases.

They’re a new company just getting started. It’s like steelbook sales. You order in a quantity of 1000,2000,3000 or 4000. Twilight time were also limited and indicator series too. The owner of Radiance moved from Arrow, and they had a similar sort of model for a lot of titles.
