Tip for restoring pottery learnt on archaeological excavations: while gluing, and to dry fully, use a bucket of sand, and stick the piece into it, with the glued seam above the sand. It will hold it still until dry without having to lay it on a flat surface, which can force the piece to move. I also use a toothpick, or a small metal tipped objet to apply the glue rather than the applicator.

I think copycat is a bit harsh. What’s wrong with other chateau owners posting their lives on KZbin? And Stephanie is friends with so many of them who have started channels after her (the Pethericks, Dan, Anna and Philip) so if anything it’s been a positive for her because she’s got a community now.

Copycats ? No ! Inspired people, who discover their passion and the way to finance it by seeing the renovation and life by Stephanie. And it is a very good thing ! They aren't copying, they were inspired by her. It should be the opposite of a competition here, it's more like a big family or a big community. And it is an interesting and very important way to save the chateaux and avoid them to disappear. I didn't even know, Stephanie was the first one.

WHAT A THRILL!! I am SO happy you were recognized in this fashion. WELL DESERVED is a serious UNDERSTATEMENT. Many of us who have watched you for a very long time KNOW how hard you work at vlogging your channel. Stephanie you have taken us all to SO MANY FABULOUS places, introduced us to SO MANY wonderful people, and shared your journeys educating us in history and EVERY other bit of pertinent information you could possibly share. This visit to Paris, watching this parade brought on tears. I’m SO grateful for the opportunity to witness these things as I believed it might never happen in my life. I am a lifelong Anglophile, maiden name Browning, but have not been able to travel. I began studying Romance language in elementary school, in particular French, and always dreamed of traveling and seeing such things as this STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL museum in Paris. All I can say is THANK YOU Stephanie. Thank You also to every person at LaLande who contributes to making it such a wonderful place. Thank you especially to Natie who contributes so much behind the scenes, and everyone else who are just such amazing human beings. Bless you ALL for opening the door for me to such incredible experiences! Yes, I’m emotional about this, and yes, it made me tear up! 😊💕🌷🤗

🍞 It's for a couple of petite toast triangles 📐 or little soldiers ⏸️. You wouldn't plunk some super-sized slice of burnt bread in it🤣. 😊 As a fully dedicated 🧇starchetarian 🥞〰️ I mean vegetarian who favors 🧈dairy🥚 & 🥯starchy 🍝 things〰️totally 💛 love me some 🥐 crusty bread 🥖. Although as an 😎Angeleno, am also 💯% here for a pinto/black bean 🌮 or even🥔potato taco 👩‍🍳💋! 🫖All for pretty porcelain w/a specific & unique purpose too, but sadly these beautiful plates won't stack well. 🏰 You need an expansive space like the Château to store 'em. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

Ah !

I hope working with the French government might led to more Chateaux restoration groups sharing even more ideas on financing and maintaining these individually wonderful Chateaux. They are all so different from large to small Chateaux. Environments from modern inside to Medieval. Lalande has so much potential still to have so many rooms developed, as gites that I think there will be years of viewing pleasure. For now, I am hopeful that the Chapel and Lake can benefit from government cooperation. ❤

Philip you can use a product called Milliput for filling the missing pieces, restorers use it a lot. It comes in white, off white and terra cotta and has to be kneeded quite a bit before using then you can scrape or lightly sand down the excess when dry, it's a sort of epoxy. Usually light sanding doesn't hurt the surface of porcelain. I stayed with a friend last year and as I admired a chinese vase she had (it was a pair) she jostled the table and one vase broke into a hundred pieces ! I felt guilty so I put it all back together but I must have missed some bits that I filled with Milliput and then began to gild like Kintsugi.

“Kintsugi (literally, gold seams) is a traditional repair method that takes the broken or chipped parts of cherished vessels, glues them back together with a Japanese lacquer, and paints the seams with gold or silver powder.” Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.

I went to the Musée Jacquemart-André last year and it was absolutely stunning! The collection that the Jacquemart-André family collected over the years is incredible and its worth visiting just to see the mansion itself - in the middle of Paris! Having coffee and patisserie at the café is a must after the visit.

Marie, I had a dream last night that you were running a restaurant in the US and I was shocked to see you were serving robin birds - it turns out they weren’t robins but Paragrine Falcons 🙈 I was a bit upset you didn’t acknowledge me but then realized we had never met 🤣

Stephanie, you so deserve recognition from the French government. Your vlog has brought France's stunning cultural heritage to thousands who enjoy learning about the history and creation of France's art, music, fashion, etc. Well done. I feel a bit sad that you were not able to get exact replicas of the rose but perhaps you will source more from a better grower. Congratulations and best wishes!

One really has to watch these twice as there is so much detail. Marie's flower arranging is an example of this. Very comforting to watch. Thank you!

It still amazes me how not so long ago Mummy had a little garden and Maria had just a few flowers to choose from. The biggest chore of the week was keeping the grass mowed without Mummy running off into the moat. Today you grow a large portion of the food that is cooked for your guest. You are growing so many different flowers, fruits, vegetables, trees that are wanted, a secret garden in the making, and a forest healthy and thriving. The changes are incredible. Look at all of the people that you now employ to further help your little town grow. All of the chateau owners that have followed you and have shined a light on the unique business opportunity in France. You are making France a vacation destination which means tourism and money being brought into little communities. You and the chateau community have made France, food, flowers, and dancing the night away a wonderful weekend get away. Michael was such a big part of that in the beginning and I know he had a more negative backlash that had made him very unsure if he wants to put himself out there again. I miss the two of you and the shenanigans you two could get into. I do wonder what happened to a few people from the beginning. Maybe they are still around and camera shy or have moved on for good. I miss the other two Ian’s. While we will always remember Ian and his sudden passing away I am completely unaware of what happened to the other two Ian’s. “CAT” never comes anymore. I seen her working on Dan’s chateau once and you have met up with her a couple of times when you go into the city but why isn’t she around the chateau more. I cannot remember her name but she’s a small little spit fire with short blonde hair. A lawyer. A lot of fun especially when around Cat, Maria, Natty, and you at 11 at night singing and dancing in the kitchen while finishing up the dishes. You need to push for all the girls to come in for a crazy week of singing and dancing. Pajamas all day. A lot of wine, bread, cheese, and desserts. A 80’s night and a disco 🪩 night. Every night a different themed party event. I also wondered if you would consider a cocktail of the week. Every week there will be 2 cocktail choices with a dark alcohol 🥃 or light alcohol 🍸. I know you need wine at dinner but cocktail hour could be a different option. You could make a cocktail that is not one anybody drinks just for fun. It could be 1 night a week or the weekend. Each week you vote on the cocktail for the next week or maybe have a jar 🫙 with folded paper that have cocktails on the paper. Either you alone try the drink or the whole group. There is a app on the internet that allows you to put in all the different alcohols and ingredients that you have in the house. Like 🍓 🍋 mint 🥛 🍫 hot sauce you will be shocked at the list that you go through. Once you get done it will list every cocktail you can make with the ingredients within your home. Some drinks can have over 10 ingredients and some just 2-3. It’s a lot of fun.
