An Oasis For Urban Nature Photography

I've been shooting a lot of bird photography lately. I love shooting birds; but that's hardly all I do. Check out some of the playlists on my channel for more of my outdoor photography genres. One of my favorites, largely because it's what's most available to me, is woodland. I am so happy I found your channel. I am also a retired federal employee (22 years). I retired in 2017 and adopted travel and adventure and drone operating as hobbies to fill the void. They have been working wonderfully. Just recently, have taken a keen interest in bird and other wildlife photography/videography. I have a Sony a6700, a Sony FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS, a Sony E 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G OSS, a Sigma 30mm F1.4, and Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lenses. Bird and wildlife photography is new to me. I have been reading up on birds and learning the best times to go out to capture footage. Drawing encouragement and inspiration from you. Subscribed. I live in Fredericksburg, Va. I will definitely check out this park in Alexandria. 🙏

John, I really enjoyed the video. There are some real gems inside our urban areas that I think many of us dismiss. They are always worth checking out. There is a place very similar to this in Harrisburg, PA - Wildwood Park. If it was not for the sound of traffic on Rt. 81 and Rt. 22 that run along the boundaries of the park, you would never know you were so close to an urban area. Thnks for sharing your adventure. I'll be watch for more.

Our plans always go out the window five minutes into the adventure. The herons in the water were magnificent. I had the same trouble filming egrets. Rock blocked the ambush of the hunt. I love herons. It is pretty amazing watching them hunt and you got some really good video and pictures. Nice tree frog too. We have lots of them here but rarely see them. Once you get close they get real quiet and are nearly impossible to find.

The R5 is the best camera I've ever owned. I sold my 5D Mark IV for it. The 90D is a very good crop body DSLR and good for video, as I understand it. But IMO there's nothing like a high MP full frame body for the landscape and wildlife photography that I do, for multiple reasons. When you say you "need to step up" from the 90D, ask yourself why. Keeping up with the Joneses isn't a good reason. Every time I've upgraded my camera. It was because my current great was holding me back from something creative I wanted to do. If your current camera does what you need and you don't need a specific capability that the 90D doesn't have, there's no reason to change.
