In this video, we explore the sole surviving episode of Late Night Horror known as The Corpse Can't Play. The show is a highly obscure BBC horror anthology which was (allegedly) destroyed because of viewer complaints over its horror content. The real reason? Well, let's find out. And let's see if this surviving episode is as horrifying as its reputation would have one believe.
Edit: A certain British Broadcasting Corporation decided to claim a twenty second section in this video, so the footage has been removed. Apologies

That turning head gave me nightmares for years when I was a kid. It still stands what’s left of the hair on my head up.

That ending was kind of funny. In a classic dry sort of way. 🤣 The LNH intro is trippy as hell👍🏼

The two episodes I recall most are 'The Bells of Hell' and 'The Triumph of Death' which traumatised me at the time. Would love to see more evidence of any of them turn up at some point in the future. And that intro sequence still looks and sounds great 50 years later....

I recently looked up and watched the dead of night episodes that exist on KZbin and the algorithm offered me up your channel and I'm glad it did. Great video and channel, subbed.

This is really very good, thank you. By the way, that actor’s name is pronounced Valentine DIAL, known to many older radio listeners as The Man In Black.

The turning head is so nightmarish and strange, I’ve never seen anything quite that unsettling on an older TV anthology!

I hadn't heard of this before now, so this was definitely a neat show to learn about! And I agree, I looked up the synopsis for the episode, The Bells of Hell, and it has a really cool premise, hopefully it gets found at some point.

There are two radio adaptations of the story on KZbin. They're under the story's original title; "Ringing the Changes".

This old man recalls staying up late to watch some of these, but has memories of stories not yet covered, did I make them up myself? - or did the BBC destroy their best products?

This seems to have practically the same plot as Ray Bradbury's The October Game and Mary Danby's Party Pieces, wonder who first used it?

I remember reading Party pieces in Fontana Horror stories books and going that's Bradbury's tale! I think it was in the mid 60s-I think Bradbury's was late 40s early 50s never read any burke but he wrote mainly in the 60s @@AstileDohertyProductions
