If nothing else Act 6’s drama was at least meaningfully about failures to communicate, and the Epilogues furthering that theme. Homestuck^2 will never be good unless something else wears it’s corpse so smoothly, though it could as just happen abruptly with how no one cares about Homestuck^2.

While I think the rot had set in and was clearly evident by the end of homestuck you still had to kind of look for it, and the story had enough momentum to carry itself forward and deliver a climax that was good, though perhapes not everything it once could have been. Homestuck is still a great, though now flawed work. H2 is just utter nonsense from the very first moment and should never have been made. Consider how mind boglingly huge the homestuck universe was by the end of the story and then stop and take a moment to reflect that the very first thing H2 did was DOUBLE that size with its split universe thing. Forget for a moment all other negative factors about H2 and the fact remains, by sheer scale alone a resurected James Joyce could not have made H2 good.

Dirk Strider in the Epilogues and Homestuck 2 is fits the term "Character Assassination" if there ever was one. Though assassination is putting it lightly, that's just ignoring the fact there isn't even a corpse or shadow of what was Dirk left.

While it’s not “Dirk” Dirk, it’s still him, and a part of him, a path he could’ve went down. These are things that Dirk himself and even the story recognize and admit. Like saying it’s character assassination when the whole point of Dirk’s arc is that he’s predisposed and willing to do fucked up shit towards and to save and help his friends. Is like, kinda missing the point of Dirk??? Like his motives are clear, he wants to reinstate canon to save his friends from fizzling out. Is it really that surprising he’d go through all the trouble to do this?

Maybe there's something to be said for the notion that the Homestuck team secretly WANT people to do exactly that? I mean one of the themes that they put into Homestuck towards the end (and even a bit in the beginning if you stretch it) was the notion of things not being in one singular author's hands. Maybe one of their intentions behind the debacle was to spur the fanbase into saying "fuck you, I can do better" and then actually doing it.

I have my money on John doing another apology tour and then doing a long speach on how hes complicit in Troll opression and how his toxic masculinity is the real reason for all the bad things that happened in Homestuck. I know it's been four months, but I just realized. All the dead trolls DID come back, in Candy. The Epilogues stated that the ghosts that got sucked into Calliope's Black Hole were being spat out into Candy!Earth C... and then we never really got a single word of that ever again. This is a planet-upheaval kind of event, all of these undead trolls falling from the skies, some of them with God-Tier powers, some of them from rare blood castes like the Meenah/Feferi ghosts, and nobody seems to care. Literally, the only outcome of this huge event in the Candy-verse was Meenah being Karkat's second-in-command, and one (1) scene in the Epilogues with Eridan and Feferi. That's it. An unending rain of God-Tier trolls had no other effect. I get that these trolls didn't do much in OG Homestuck either, but Jane is no Lord English. How is she still alive?!

The Influence WILL still affect them, Caliborn/the Cherubs CAME from their own universe of course, on the very planet (Earth C) they settled on. And, whose to say that was the FIRST session on the planet? The place is already a wasteland similar to that of Earth A in the time of the Exiles... Honestly, a series about them trying to stop Sburb in their universe would be interesting. Remember, the "LE Glitch" was described as something that could be transmitted to any "offspring" universes, much like what happened to the Universe B. And Universe C is of course tied to them as well, thus likely being "infected" as well... Would Universe D be affected too? Universe E?

5:30 - Okay, it isn't my imagination, something is _wrong_ with the art from Chapter 15 onward. It looks way cruder and more off-model than everything in the earlier chapters. I heard stories that there was some sort of massive tumult behind the scenes at What Pumpkin or Snake Solutions or whatever and a number of people ended up leaving. Did the artist (Xamag, right?) leave the project? Did they even _have_ an artist for Chapters 15-16?

Xamag did indeed leave, and now they have a weird rotating cycle of artists that 2 are also writers. (That’s why the art style changes dramatically on like every chapter.) I’m pretty sure she said she left to focus on vast error and her canon VE side store fully but don’t take my word on that.

I highly doubt there's going to be more updates. Anytime a fanwork says it's soing to release the rest as one chunk, it nearly never happens. Personally, when I had initially thought about an epilogue, I was assuming a "pose as a team because life is real" thing, seeing everyone settle in on Earth C and have little adventures and such, instead of everything suddenly being bad for no discernable reason, and apparently the only way to fix everything is for Vriska(of course) to do something. But...what, exactly, would Vriska doing anything solve? Is this going to end up with two competing sburb sessions in different universes again? Because they definitely do not have a solid enough foundation to build that kind of spiralling story on(nor, in my opinion, the ability to keep it in check, considering all the side stories). And how would that solve anything?

Wait… John/June is a depressed loser/dead, which matches up with Caliborn’s opinion of them. Roxy and Jane are shells of themselves(most of the time), with Caliborn never viewing them as people. Jake is shoved to the side, with Caliborn probably being embarrassed about his defeat. Dirk is the “cool” villain, and is the only one Caliborn likes. All the other characters are either used by Dirk(Cal’s favourite) or pushed to the side because he doesn’t care. Finally, the only truly canon ship is Davekat. My God.

Homestuck^2 just makes me feel sad when I think about it, given what we know now at least. Not to mention the fact that it'll likely never be finished. Hiveswap is likely going to be finished, given that Act 3 was in progress when we last saw it, and the team may as well complete it with how far they've gone. Hauntswitch probably won't be made, because i'd be surprised if the team would have any energy left in them after so many years of Hiveswap to just straight up make a game about Dammek and Jude. Post-Canon has just been one hell of a ride.

As an avid Davekat shipper I'd say that was about the only good thing in the entirety of Homestuck^2. I love the series and have met so many friends because of it, but this just really sucks ngl. I got into HS late so I haven't really been involved with the fandom when it was at it's highest, but I was really excited to learn that HS^2 was happening, so that I could finally enjoy checking on the site for updates. I was quickly disappointed for reasons everyone knows by now. As much as Homestuck is dying right now, I'll still love the old content for the fun it's given me. But screw the Epilogues and HS^2.

Hussie said ok then the HS2 team and zealot Twitter fans started a mass harming campaign attacking anyone who portrayed John as a man( be it cis John or trans male John). This got to the point where raided a discord owned by a kid and bragged about. As a result June fans got a very bad reputation. This will most likely end with HS2 making John June in a rushed and poor manner and will be followed by a mass harresment campaign to purge anyone that disagrees with it. Personally I hate everything about it. Homestuck went a decade without telling people what they could and could not headcanon and what they could and could not ship, then a new team who just wants to control and bully people come in and starting shoving their headcanons down everyone's throats. Before the Tolberone incident Trans Fem June, Trans Masc John and even cis John fans could exist side by side. But now they are trying to excert control over others and force people to view characters the same way other people do

The LGBT activists in the homestuck community have been insane and hyper agressive with their headcannons since almost day one. The new team is simply the natural conclusion to the identity politics mania that steadily grew within the Homestuck fandom from the early days.
