The final outcome of "Secularism" is becoming a Muslim majority and then an Islamic state. If the history of Pakistan, Lebanon & Bangladesh can't substantiate it enough for you, take a look at the demographic trends of West Bengal & Kerala in Real-time.

Wow! no mention of Hindu persecution in Bangladesh in this open letter! Would Shekhar Gupta have not mentioned "Muslim persecution" several times if he were to write to dear Narendrabhai in 2002. Not even once did he appeal to Yunus that Shri Chinmoy Das be freed as its clearly religious persecution that he is denied bail, denied proper lawyer to fight his case. On the other hand he understands Yunus' need to appease the Jamaat. So to appease Jamaat, the Hindus should be sacrificed and Mr Gupta is entirely fine with that logic. This is is one video I saw from start to finish - I mean, these "Hindus" like Gupta are such a unique breed - their co-religionists are being persecuted and that too in the name of religion and they cant even say a word in their favour and dare they even utter a single word against Muslims. Gazab ke log hain - I mean, I am speechless at this apathy. Perhaps they only have sympathy for Muslims being persecuted, and harsh words for Hindus even if Hindus were only defending themselves.

WTF? Are you saying India gains nothing from Bangladesh? Are you serious? Hasina has been accused of acting in India's favor and doing everything possible to undermine Bangladesh's interests. As a senior journalist, such denial won’t help India in the long run. If you want to build a long-term relationship, try respecting each other and move away from this "Dada-giri" mindset. You failed to mention some devastating and controversial agreements Hasina made with India, including transit and transshipment deals without proper tariffs or tolls, the Rampal project, unfair treaties with Adani, and her silence on issues such as border killings, Indian insurgency, and intelligence activities in Bangladesh over the past one and a half decades. Many Bangladeshi citizens perceive India as the main culprit behind the BDR massacre in 2009. For the last three sham elections, Indian intelligence, political, and business elites have played a significant role in keeping Hasina in power. In return, she has done everything to satisfy their interests, appearing more like an obedient servant than a leader. Final words: If peace is truly the goal, India must overcome its hegemonic mindset and strive to build a relationship with Bangladesh based on mutual trust and respect.
@indiamusically
@indiamusically 11 күн бұрын
India has a hegemonic mindset or this thought is a creation of your convenience? India simply has security concerns only- the insurgents who found home in Bangladesh before 2010s and now the entry of 3rd country in bay of bengal. Rest all issues, which you point out as devastating for Bangladesh can simply be re-visted and modified by next governments. India cant be sorry for being a large economy, what can we do if you see India as hegemon just because India is large and growing and it convenient for you to take India has hegemone just because of this. India has not bullied any agreement s like US does. Every agreement can be re looked but with civility, diplomacy. Rest if you want to raise the hatred bar, and blame all own problem on India shoulders, be our guest. If you are self respecting, we are too.

Dear Mr. Shekhar Gupta, I appreciate your acknowledgment of Bangladesh as India’s “most valued friend in the east.” It is indeed heartening to see such a statement from someone of your stature. However, as a Bangladeshi, I feel compelled to highlight some critical issues that complicate this friendship and challenge the narrative you have presented. India undoubtedly played a significant role in our liberation in 1971, and for that, Bangladesh will always be grateful. However, since then, the relationship has not always been one of equality or mutual respect. The Undermining of Democracy You speak of valuing Bangladesh, but where was India when Sheikh Hasina’s government consistently suppressed democratic institutions and extended its grip on power through controversial means? India’s apparent backing of Hasina’s government, despite allegations of electoral manipulation and authoritarian practices, has fueled the perception among many Bangladeshis that India prioritizes its strategic and economic interests over supporting true democracy in our country. This narrative is reinforced by India’s silence on pressing issues like media censorship, political repression, and lack of fair elections in Bangladesh. While India often positions itself as the world’s largest democracy, its actions in Bangladesh suggest that it is willing to compromise democratic principles when convenient. Economic Disparities Let’s talk trade. The trade imbalance between India and Bangladesh remains stark, heavily favoring India. Bangladesh imports far more from India than it exports. For example, in the fiscal year 2022-23, Bangladesh’s imports from India exceeded $16 billion, while our exports barely crossed $2 billion. This disparity hurts our economy and fosters resentment among ordinary Bangladeshis who feel India is exploiting its dominant position. Furthermore, Indian policies have often hindered Bangladesh’s access to fair trade opportunities. Non-tariff barriers, bureaucratic delays, and restrictions on our agricultural and industrial exports to India are well-documented. Despite numerous agreements and assurances, these obstacles remain, leaving many to question whether India truly seeks an equitable partnership. The Water Issue Another sore point in our relationship is the issue of transboundary rivers. India has constructed dams and barrages on major rivers like the Ganges (Farakka Barrage) and Teesta, significantly affecting Bangladesh’s water flow, agriculture, and livelihoods. For decades, Bangladesh has sought a fair Teesta water-sharing agreement, but progress remains elusive. This has further eroded trust and added to the perception that India prioritizes its own interests at the expense of its “most valued friend.” The Role of Regional Diplomacy While you dismiss Pakistan as offering “political, philosophical, and sectarian baggage,” it’s worth noting that Bangladesh’s relationship with India is not without challenges. The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) have created unease among Bangladeshis, as these policies cast indirect aspersions on our country’s integrity. They reflect a growing sense of mistrust that India needs to address if it values Bangladesh as an equal partner in the region. A Path Forward If India truly values Bangladesh as its “most valued friend,” then it must do more to treat us as an equal partner. This means respecting democratic principles, addressing the economic imbalance, resolving water disputes fairly, and ensuring that regional policies do not alienate the people of Bangladesh. Bangladeshis are no longer passive observers of geopolitics. In this age of transparency and information, people can see through empty rhetoric and one-sided narratives. True friendship is built on mutual respect, equality, and trust-not merely on declarations of goodwill. I hope this letter serves as an invitation to reflect on these issues and foster a relationship based on genuine partnership rather than dominance or convenience. Yours sincerely, Md Shahjahan Ahmed

CAA : Nothing can stand in the way of checking illegal immigration, the illegal ones are regularly deported from every country , in the USA too and there persecuted minorities are also given priority citizenship under Lautenberg amendment..India has a history of partition on religious lines...when something similar ( with regard to illegals and persecuted minorities) is being attempted by India from Islamic countries carved out of itself, which was long overdue, wonder why the hullabaloo !!!. If Muslims are turning against fellow muslims ( Ahmedias, Sufis, Shias etc )in Islamic countries carved out of India then some solutions should be found by them, like partition etc which they so readily advocate when they are in non muslims countries. Illegal immigration from Bangladesh is rampant( your youtubers are making how to videos) "If Bangladesh does not agree to take back it's people then the country should compensate by giving land to India"

So he has no intention to be part of Bangladeshi Politics. And also as a Bangladeshi i can ensure the political system is so dirty no well educated can survive here. The current interim government also looks like giving up on the reform, BNP just want the same old political system, so they pressuring the government for election. Mending fences with India may not be his immediate priority as cozying up to Pakistan seems to be bearing better results.

What about issues like shared river or border killing? The anti-India sentiment in Bangladesh is rooted in India's unfair treatment. India needs to address these first before expecting friendship.

As a Bangladeshi viewer, it summed up to me as: 1. So much self-obsession to justify India's role in all the plots and deeds against Bangladesh's democracy and stability and backing up all the corruptions and crimes against humanity by the Shekh Hasina and her government, as if that's the natural duty for any neighboring country, so no judgment expected. 2. Calling out to Dr. Yunus as if Shekhar Gupta fits equal to him in any equation. 3. Trying to shake Dr. Yunus about his future disaster on and after the role in the government. Time will say about it. 4. Admission and admiration for Shekh Hasina's India-favoring role, even betraying the people and the country. 4. Most importantly, warning Dr. Yunus not to take any stand or initiative that puts India in question. Finally, my assumption is that this letter is produced by the Indian intelligence community, not to promote friendship but to warn Bangladesh's current government to ease down its resistance to India's hegemony or there will be consequences.

08:11. Not a ploy. 👎 08:58 Supporting a corrupt person like Hasina for your own interest IS MEANING harm to Bangladesh. Please don't act innocent. 09:23 Sorry. NO. Not true. 10:00 Well. That clarifies whether India is a friend or not, doesn't it? That woman butchered people in Bangladesh and India doesn't want her to face trial. Why? Because she serves your purpose in the region and is an asset of yours, isn't she? Let's be real for once, shall we? 👇 ( You = India ) You look down on Bangladesh from your ivory tower. You aid corrupt people like Hasina who have been rejected by people. You spread false news of Hindu oppression using your media. You are happy to take transit advantage over Bangladesh and refuse to offer Bangladesh the same. Same regarding other issues like: Water issues, Border issues and so on. You want people as head of Bangladesh who'll serve your interest, but not the people of Bangladesh. After doing all that, you expect us to believe that you are a friendly nation? 🙃 Look, if you keep behaving like that as a nation, this kind of NONSENSE open letter isn't gonna do much. Such a sorry state of affairs when even some of India’s more informed journalists seem out of touch with the situation in Bangladesh. Prof. Yunus is doing just fine (for now), and he has already declared a cut-off point for elections-June 2026 at the latest. As for India, the current government has been quite measured in its dealings if you look at the policy level. The core issue is this: Sheikh Hasina was focused on one thing-staying in power. As a result, her regime shaped the status quo in a way that compromised Bangladesh's sovereign national interest. The interim government is simply working to correct that-it's nothing revolutionary. Bangladesh will act according to its best interests, whether that involves procuring artillery shells from Pakistan because it was the cheapest deal, or potentially purchasing combat aircraft from China. At the same time, it also means not allowing separatist activities on Bangladeshi soil targeting India’s Northeast, since we don't that reciprocated in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. We have taken a firm step toward becoming a stronger republic, and we shall see it through, with or without Indian endorsement.

Hello mr rahman. I concur with sheikh hasina being dictatorial and suppressing dissent. No second opinion. However, what are we to make of the 1971 apologists for Pakistan?
@nayeemrahman9312
@nayeemrahman9312 10 күн бұрын
@@vikasprakashjoshi2090 I guess the apologists you are talking about are primarily active on social media, which in the context of Bangladeshi politics is heavily influenced by Jaamati Islami and Awami League influencers. These two factions have been engaged in a narrative war for ages. Lately, for obvious reasons, Awami League has found itself on the back foot, leaving the social media terrain to Jaamat. However, if you examine Jaamat's electoral history, they have never secured more than 9% of the votes. Because of their pro-Pakistan stance during the Liberation War, they remain perpetually invested in undermining the historical significance of 1971. However, this perspective is far from mainstream in Bangladesh. The two largest parties, BNP and Awami League, together command around 80% of the electorate, and neither seeks to undermine the historical narrative of 71. However, there's another layer to this story. Bangladesh is a very young country, with people aged 15-29 accounting for about 30% of the population. This demographic has largely moved beyond the historical and emotional baggage carried by older generations regarding the war. Until recently, the events of 71 heavily shaped our national consciousness, but a shift is now evident. Let me give a personal anecdote. For my parents, the idea of being friendly with Pakistan was anathema due to the atrocities committed during that war. While I don't share their staunch anti-Pakistan stance, I still remain somewhat uncomfortable with the idea. However, when I look at the next generation-my nephews and nieces-Pakistan is just another country to them, without much of a burden. I hope this gives you some idea regarding our situation.

You have not said a word in support of this in your so called open letter, perhaps for the fear of being called a bigot or maybe this is intentional and you have ulterior motives. This damages your already shaky credibility. This is an open call for all Hindus and bharatiyas to cancel their “Print” subscriptions. You should have addressed open letters to Sheikh Hasina during her 15-year tenure as she persistently dismantled democracy in Bangladesh. Comparing Professor Yunus, who has taken the lead in forming an interim government with Dr. Manmohan Singh seems inappropriate. Your insights would be more beneficial if focused on encouraging the Indian government and its politicians to cultivate long-term, amicable relations with all neighboring countries in the subcontinent, not just Bangladesh. Additionally, it would be valuable to concentrate on the historical imperatives of flawed policies enacted by various Indian administrations, and how to avoid them in future.

Thanks sir, for pointing out so many good things. We want more careful journalists like you to analyze the things that matter to keeping the peace in the region. Bangladesh is going through a tough time, but Bangladeshi people are much stronger and smarter than other Southeast Asian nations. The way we grow in the last 2 decades, we will grow the same way in the upcoming decades. It's the Modis policy that turns Bangladeshi people against India like Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, the Maldives, etc. Bangladeshi people are very good at keeping good relationships with neighbors, as we have kept earlier. It is the Indian policy people are looking at to respond. Bangladeshi people want their fair share of bilateral relationships. Look how the Tista, Farakka water treaty had been hanging for decades. How Modi and Adani make a bizarre electricity treaty. Modi made a treaty with Hasina to loot Bangladesh, this is not acceptable. Bangladesh want a good relationship with India; I believe this is also important for India to keep your internal security check.

Considering how knowledgeable you are, it was surprising how you made a number of errors or misjudgments in your segment. Here are the facts. 1. Yunus’ government has already declared election target towards the end of the year, not 4 years. 2. The changes in the constitution is a demand of the general public so that another fascist leader like Hasina cannot come to power. 3. The main reason for the current anti-India sentiment in Bangladesh is because of India’s refusal to accept the changes on the ground and continued support for Hasina. 4. Most Bangladeshis do not care for a religious party in power. Jamaat and other religious parties have never gained more than 5% of seats in the parliament. 5.
