I am posting because there has been a confluence of events in my Space/Time continuum.
Every year about this time I grow nostalgic because my Birthday is April 30 and at 76 my thoughts tend to go to the past.
Once upon a time , last March. I was approached about doing an intro for an event in a Kool Toronto Cinema called “Trailer Trash- King Corman.” Of course I said yes. Then I thought that it would nice to shoot it at the location of the New World Pictures Editing rooms in Hollywood USA. Who better to join the me than my partner in Cinema, Joe Dante! Joe said yes and those 2 old Trailer hands were on the street with TFH Guru Daniel Kremer behind the camera. It was just before we rolled that it hit me, It was almost exactly 50 YEARS AGO that I met Joe and with Jon Davison my professional movie journey began. Cue the Twilight Zone Music. Once we all absorbed this cosmic coincidence we were back on the boards and the memories and stories of 1974-79 flowed. We got on such a roll that we hit both the Cole Ave. & El Centro editing rooms. This abundance of footage was shaped and edited by Daniel and with the sound work of Aaron Abrams Despite the traffic noise and in the words of John Ford to start his famous Peter Bogdanovich interview, “There is only going to be one take.”
Here it is, an obscure corner of Film History for Corman completists and it comes with a Syllabus! To complete the course go to Trailers From Hell and reference the TFHs for: Hollywood Blvd, Eat My Dust, Grand Theft Auto, Truffaut’s Small Change, Death Race 2000, BLAST!,Big Bad Mama, Crazy Mama, Cockfighter, Summer School Teachers, Piranha, RnRHS, and so many more. We cut over 50 trailers, 75 TV Spots, Directed and Edited parts or all of 5 movies, while watching over 1900 movies.
All from March 1974 to June 1979 when we graduated.
I have one last thought before this rip in the continuum closes: Those were the good old days.
