"New lore" tends to mean crazy galactic mega plotlines involving titans and Jailor and time travel to the end of time and whatnot. What I love with the new SoD lore is that it adds lore on a more grounded back-at-home level. I get it that maybe we need the "mega lore", but it is really really nice to have some more smaller scale plotlines and mysteries. It's one thing from Vanilla that needs to get back in the game IMHO.

People really need to stop throwing writers under the bus. People like Danuser and Afrasiabi wrote great lore. If you disagree then you simply don't know what they wrote. Some fan favorite stories and dialogues are written by these "community hated writers." Metzen coming back is great, but we've still lost some great contributers to WoW.

The white weapons that drop from SM are all clues to the locations of graves needed for the Pain Suppresion priest rune. I guess that news hasn't spread far yet. The Silver hand Training hammer leads you just outside Theramore to an interactable by priests, grave. If you're interested look up how to get the pain supp priest rune

I think the Draenei are aware of the chaos that has followed them all around and doesn’t seem to be as pride filled as the elves. At least on Legion Velen as their leader knows he sometimes failed but still tried to push on and endure with their people. Probably related on how Velen personality is, to actually befriend and have compassion for most characters, including Illidan that was opposite to him in many ways.

I like the dark rider bit. Only lore we had about them before that was duskwood fall to darkness happened because of that coward in raven hills(modern retail wow) stealing the scythe and causing the dark rider to chase him. Its great to see them more active than just being after the scythe of elune

@@Jamie-ul6ww So am I. Xal'atath did not leave the dagger in Legion. It was the AP that we channeled into Sargeras' blade. She was freed from the dagger in BfA & disappeared through a void portal. We then see her again on the other side of the void portal Iridikron went through in 10.1.5.

This isn’t exactly true. At the time of BC Illidan was fighting a multi front war, mostly focused on fighting the legion who kaelthas had sided with. Western Nagrand as an active legion invasion that you need to stop. Netherstorm was mostly legion influence and the final raid of BC was against the legion. Especially in the book Illidan it shows that he didn’t really care to fight the people from Azeroth, he was focused on the legion and their invasions.

@@CompoundProjectsYou named ONE raid (out of 8 in the expansion), one zone (which is incorrect anyways, as most of Netherstorm is against the Blood Elves under Kael'thas' command with only a couple Legion-held areas), and part of one zone. So, how exactly is claiming we only fought some scattered Legion forces incorrect? XD If you read Illidan, then you know it was literally the Legion's plan to make us think Illidan's demons and himself were in the Burning Legion so Azeroth's finest would deal with him, since the Legion had failed to end him so many times before. With this information, excepting cases like Socrethar (who also seems like a rogue Legion agent), it contextualizes those few Legion "invasions" we saw in Outland into bait-and-switch plans to make it look like we were fighting an active Legion invasion when, in fact, that was shut down back in WarCraft III when Vashj, KT, and Illidan went around Outland closing portals (many of which can be seen inactive around Outland). This further shows and explains that most, if not all, of the Legion activity in Outland is from members who got stranded there when said portals got closed and Illidan hasn't considered the few scattered forge camps to be a big enough threat to warrant being a priority.

According to a blue post on the forums, "Early on in Season of Discovery development we met with Chris Metzen to talk about the narrative in the season. In that meeting we mutually agreed not to treat Season of Discovery as any sort of alternate history for World of Warcraft. The term that Chris used to describe our narrative approach to Season of Discovery is “found photographs”. This basically means you are finding little bits of information about characters or locations that fleshes them out a bit more as fixtures that are part of the living world of Azeroth, but doesn’t change characterizations, motivations, or reframe any storylines in a major way."

I don't know how void works in relation to time but if xal'atath was in that portal iredicron leapt through at the end of the mega dungeon that puts her at galigrons death in the past. Then iredicron is next seen present day. So they both have some kind of time magic on their side when they need it. (Looking up name spelling while commenting on yt with my phone sux you can understand what i meant lol)

Not sure if it's related or not, but one of my favorite tv shows, "The X-Files", has an antagonist known as, "The Smoking Man". His real name isn't known, but his initials are and those are C.G.B. Spender. With "The Smoking Man" being responsible for many historical shadow government operations, for example, the assassination of J.F.K., it seems like a reference to him in WoW with the initials C.B. Maybe I'm reaching though.

With SOD is it all lore we've seen in game before somewhere? The only thing I can think of as far as the initials CB would be some member of the Blackmoore family we haven't seen before. Supposedly Aedelyn Blackmoore was a general who sold state secrets and may have been executed, but it was never told to whom they were sold to. If Alterac answered to Lordaeron, then really the only other place he could sell secrets to would be the remnants of Arathor. We know that Aedelyns son Aedelas Blackmoore was a serial rapist most notably of Thralls friend Taretha who died in her mid 20's. Could the Bronze dragons have saved Taretha in Escape From Durnholde because she was pregnant? Or is that sniper rifle set up at only a height that the rare spawn turtle, Cranky Benj, in Hillsbrad could operate?

Imagine with me for a moment. Imagine if Blizzard's even-bigger-plan is for after the Worldsoul Saga ends, they intend to release basically WoW 2, a sequel developed on a modern game engine while keeping the same art style, storytelling at the level of vanilla WoW, with some borrowed features from current ARPGs like the skill trees and crafting system of Last Epoch, class inspiration drawn from the Hero Talents they plan to implement, and a gutting of everything that seems like bloat and unnecessary in the current game. This would be... heavenly.

On the one hand, admittedly it feels crotchety to say this wasn’t in the original game it shouldn’t be added to classic. Which is true, this feels wrong on soo many levels. That classic, by definition people living in the past, are getting new content. You can’t lore fix a story by having two versions of the game running, current content and old content. People wanted classic servers because they wanted the good old days, and after a bit of fighting Blizz decided to give them what they wanted. If you add new content they’re not getting the version of the game they hemmed and hawwed about, not technically anyways. However on the other hand, I guess I could be quieted from this frustration if they just added into the real game everything they add into Classic. If Classic can support it, you better bet your ass the main game can.
