Nah it’s pretty easy. If the digit ends in a 1 for example, that means the last number in the first digit also ends in a 1, then just use common sense, obviously 31x31x31x31x31 would give a higher number than that and 11x11x11x11x11 would give a smaller number so it’s gotta be 21.

its actually pretty easy to do. theres a trick where for most numbers you can figure it out based on the last digit of the answer. For example, if the last digit is a 0, you know the original number also ends with 0, and the same rule applies for 1 and 2 as well. It doesnt work for some numbers but i guess you can just memorize those. Still very impressive for an 8 year old
