Hey Z, You mentioned the HarmonicDyne Poseidon. Just wanted to share my experience with these since I got a Nitsch (a Schiit toss-off amp - a Schiit shot?). I found a real synergy using these 2 together, along with an iFi Zen dac. Much better than the Drop 6xx in the same system. Try some of the Nelson Riddle with Frank Sinatra (Only the Lonely) or Nat King Cole's Stardust on The World of Nat King Cole. Magic.

The human ear already is extra sensitive at 3khz, so boosting 3khz by 3db will sound more like 6db. If anything they should have created a dip around 3khz so it would sound flat.

word of warning about the SIVGA's. while they are technically closed back, they have an air slot hidden under the yoke which is quite large. they leak just about as much sound as an open back and let in about as much too. i personally consider them open backs because when i bought them i expected them to be sealed completely and not let in or spew out sound. decent 'fun' headphones for the price, but, a true closed back they are not. im happy enough with the purchase and didnt return them, but, i already had good quality open back headphones so the SIVGA hardly get used. the biggest bonuses with the SIVGA over my other open backs is how easy they are to drive and are much more commercially appealing v-shaped tuning.

It's strange, I bought a pair of the Harmonicdyne Helios when they first released. I know these never reviewed very well among the industry, but I've always enjoyed the sound of these and I think they sounds really good for the price. I then skipped the Zeus and bought the Poseidons when they released. And let me tell you....I absolutely hate the Poseidons. I think they sound terrible. I don't know if just got a bad pair, or what. They are just so thin and hollow sounding, with just weak bass.

I still enjoy my Harmonicdyne Helios as well, even after enjoying the hell out if my newish pair of HE5XXs which are obviously planars and bring something new to the table in terms of superior soundstage. But there's a warmth and character that keeps me coming back to the Helios, especially when run balanced and paired with different amps. There's just something about them!

When the Zeus came out some of the reviews were contradicting each other, one reviewer calling them "concert hall on your head" and another one saying they are shut in. So I think Harmonicdyne do have - or used to have - an issue with consistency of product quality. I love my Zeus's but find the bass, especially upper bass, to be overpowering and smearing some of the midrange. Is that the same as reviewers heard? Don't know. Anyway, Dekoni fenestrated sheepskin pads bring the bass to where it's almost too lean, making for a beutifully clear presentation overall.

My Blon b50 just arrived. Quality control issues. Right port is fucked, scratching/ low volume if i twist the cable. The metal quality is poor, with bad casting and pre scratched on the hinges and the gold blon inserts
