For anyone curious about it, this sub 200 actually refers to the 11804-4 "Shark-Hunter", which was Doxa's actual first dive watch. The Sub 300, that is more famous, came 2 years later, in 1967. Another cool fact is that the reason why this looks similar to an Omega Seamaster is because the case was conceived by "Huguenin Frères" who also designed the Omega.

Doxas have always been appreciated in Europe for their quality. Here at the Balkans we have a saying: "Radi kao Doxa", which means: Works like a Doxa. People used to receive them as retirement gifts in former Yugoslavia. I would dare to say that 20th century Doxas can almost pair the quality of 20th century Omegas. If they kept their former standards, this must be an exceptional watch.
@oscarosullivan45134 жыл бұрын
Didn’t know they were available in Yugoslavia
@agram47004 жыл бұрын
@@oscarosullivan4513 Yes, Omikron, Doxa and Darwil were common watches in ex Yugoslavia, then Helvetia and Cortebert.

Yugoslavia had its watch game on point 😊💪 Seiko was also really common to get as a gift... The retirement gifts could go in some cases to longines and simillar brands... I know a story where one gentelman got even a Zenith 💪😊

I had no idea, just because you said that I want to get a Doxa now. Tell me more what were other popular watchs in Yugoslavia?
@agram47002 жыл бұрын
@@robiv7139 I'd recommend you get one. I had a gold plated manual wind one from the 60es. It worked within +10 sec a day. They are not expensive, even on ebay where prices are a little inflated you can find a good one under €100. Other brands that were common in former Yugoslavia were Darwil, Helvetia, Cortebert and Omikron. Helvetia and Cortebert are also good quality. I'm waiting for a nice vintage Cortebert to pop up, they are usually well under €250. Fun fact about the brand is that they used to supply their movements to Rolex. Hope I helped, cheers!
@niraviv54 жыл бұрын
just a small addition: this model actualy has its roots in the Doxa 11804-4 :) and the company that manufactured the case was the same one that supplied Omega!

The video quality is spot on. Your hosting is spot on. The only it lacks is a balanced review. No watch is perfect and i think a few i wish they did this would’ve been great. It allows the viewer to know the pros and cons prior to purchasing.

Great review Teddy. I have the Sub 200 Caribbean and couldn’t be happier. It wears incredibly well for a 42mm, and feels solid and well built. Went through a few microbrands to get here, but this is my favorite diver I have owned.

A couple of weeks ago I bought the Sub 300T Professional. My first Doxa HAD to be in the traditional orange colour. I do really like the Aquamarine too, so I've just ordered a Sub 200 Aquamarine to add to my collection :) Picking it up Tuesday!
@24934637 Жыл бұрын
I've been very slow to follow this up with my views having got my sticky paws on the Sub 200. Bit of mixed feelings to be honest. The bracelet is great, but the clasp is terrible compared to the one on my Sub 300T. Other than that, the manufacturing quality and QC seems to be good. The movement could use some regulation. My Sub 300T is accurate to an average of +6 per day, but the 200 is closer to +15, not great considering it's exactly the same movement. I've also now acquired a SUB 200 C-Graph which all the above comments also apply, except the ones about regulation, tbh I've not used it or worn it. Got it at almost £1000 discount so couldn't let that deal slip past!
@thedoxaguy4 жыл бұрын
Great video. Just 2 small corrections. It was the SUB 300 that was first. The SUB 300T came later and the fish logo is Jenny, not Doxa. The large J running from the dorsal fin to the eye of the fish design has been used on their watches from at least the 1960's. Long before they took over ownership of Doxa.

That's great info. I have one on the way.

My picks would be 200 Aquamarine on matching rubber strap, 300T Divingstar on BOR and 300 Professional on BOR. Although the case sizes on the 300 and 300T are close, I feel the slightly smaller dial and domed crystal on the 300 works best with the iconic orange. But, I’ve seen the yellow Divingstar and it’s a stunner in both 300 and 300T. Finally, the aquamarine on the less expensive 200 with the matching strap is just fun. These three would make a great summer collection.

I have the black Sharkhunter and after a year wearing as an “everyday” watch this is a great watch. I switched to the Doxa black rubber band as the beads of rice bracelet was too much bling, although very comfortable. This is a great watch - it wears small, and the sapphire is raised nice and high, only negative is it can be off about 5-10 sec per day.

Thx for your good review. I like Doxa a lot and I will add a sub 200 one to my collection, because they are serious dive watches without taking them selfs too serious (which is very very rare at the watch market in general) - that's fun. So I will get a poppy aquamarine or yellow on steel.
