To add to your review on the Orange color, while it is very bold and gets clicks online, it's purpose is actually scientific. The first Doxa dive watches were orange because they found that orange was most legible at depth. And now an Orange dial is the essential Doxa

Absolutely that is the reason for orange dials. I own the exact watch in this review purchased 2-3 years ago. The only thing I will say about the movement is that it is standard grade and was terribly inaccurate when it arrived, so much so that I sent it back to DOXA USA to see if they could do anything for me under warranty since it was even out of spec for the standard grade ETA. Surprisingly, DOXA USA sent it back to Switzerland and they regulated it for me, it now runs literally within COSC specs! Great service!

Great review! I would have thought that the orange Sub 300 is the most popular Doxa model. I think that's the one I see mentioned most often in watch forums. You should consider reviewing the 300 as well, but in Aquamarine (Tiffany-ish Blue). It's a beautiful combination.

I love Doxa! My favorite is the Sub200 navy blue, so thanks for the review! But I think the big Doxa fans will probably comment that the Sub300 orange dial is the quintessential Doxa since that was the one that was most popular in the 60s, testing in the lake near Le Loche to see what color shines the best, unique case shape, etc.

Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy a Doxa! They are just so addictive! Oh, how I thought a Sub300t Professional would be the only Doxa I need. So far, the addition of a Sub300 Searambler, Sub600t Sharkhunter and Sub200 Aquamarine to keep it company would prove me wrong, and there'll probably be more by the time I'm done 😖 You have been warned!

I‘d even go so far as to say that orange is the Doxa color. They offer incredible value for the money and what better brand ambassador could you ask for then the great Jacque Cousteau himself? Those photographs of him (a scuba legend) in his wet suit wearing an orange Doxa in action is priceless marketing.

Sir, you might check into the history of Doxa and Cousteau; it might help put these early dive watches into perspective. My older Doxa Sub 750T is on a bright orange band to match its orange face. If that sucker falls off the boat, I am definitely going to see it unless it falls over the Mariannas Trench. The rice grains watch band actually allows your wrist to dry faster. It is also heavy and hell, so make sure you have your BCD on, lest the weight of the watch pull you down into the depths! LOL. --Old Guy

there's a story with the cases they used for this. I think they were originally squale made for omega and blancpain. Then Doxa bought them up and the Sub200 cases are the same. I could be confusing them, though, and I'm wrong. These are really dope, watches. It needs better lume, for sure. And the bracelet could be a little better. But, they're cool.

I quite like Doxas. The Sub 200 is quite nice on wrist, but I've got a bit bigger wrist. The clasp is a bit on the cheap side, but it doesn't bother me at the price point as long as the bracelet is comfortable and it seems to be when I've tried it on. I do wish the Sub 200 colors were all a bit closer to what was offered on their other models. Some like the Aquamarine (my favorite Sub 200 color and top choice) are, but the Caribbean is a bit different from what's on the 300/300T and others. It's just me being picky though. Speaking of bold, the Doxa Army diver is very bold and really not like anything else I can think of at the moment. I'm really tempted by that or a 300T Caribbean.

@@IDKline 7.25”/18.4cm. The wire lugs help it a bit. I am not saying it looks small, but it definitely doesn’t look large. The lug-to-lug is relatively small (45mm), which helps. I thankfully have a Watches or Switzerland near me, which stocks Doxa. If possible, go try one on.

@@IDKline I'm not all that young, but even going 30 years back I was wearing 38 or 40 at a minimum (Victorinox non-divers by the way, one of which I still own and it works). I skipped the 36mm era as an adult. You definitely could easily wear the Sub 200, but maybe if you're used to smaller watches it might seem big. I do love the '70s style bigger cases and even the Submariner was 39mm back in the '60s, if I recall. The Sub 300 from Doxa wears very small with its true to era '60s cushion case, though I prefer the slightly more modern look of the 300T. I found the 600T to wear top heavy as James Stacey from Hodinkee said. I had hoped he was wrong. The 1500T is a big chunker and you would hate it. It is built like a tank. My friend with a wrist about the size of yours loves it, but he really is used to bigger watches. He wears a 44.25mm Speedmaster on the daily and a 45mm Seiko Turtle otherwise.
@RedwoodAggie
@RedwoodAggie Жыл бұрын
@@IDKline The Speedy Pro wears smaller than the 42 implies, but in a good way. It's really more like a 40mm case with an asymmetric case to protect the pushers/crown. The prices on those are dizzying now, especially after the 2 price increases this year. Old models can still be had for a decent price used though. I hope you get a chance to go try some watches on. Maybe plan a trip to where there are some ADs? I've visited watch stores on family trips.

@@IDKline Just a combination of a gamer name and the name for people that go there. I get the judgment thing. They can be intimidating. Just don’t stress like a slob and be surprised when you get ignored. Tudor does have a nice middle ground of sizes in 39mm. At least you could try on exhibition Rolex models. That was really helpful to me. One of our IWC dealers stopped carrying the brand, leaving one other AD with them in the entire large metro area. I haven’t gotten by there in a while, but I was lucky enough to try on a bunch of their watches at an IWC Ingenieur party at an event sight last month. I even met the head of IWC design.

Clearly he hasn't done the homework:D Furthermore If you title a video Is doxa any good? You should look into multiple watches they have on offer. Reviewing only their entry level watch how could give an answer for how good the brand is :D Should also be mentioned that Doxa filed for bankruptcy during the quartz crisis and this Doxa company has no continuity back to 1889. Now Doxa is actually a micro brand that doesn't even produce their own watch parts. It's like this guy read the introduction of the brand and got one watch delivered and now he knows how good the brand is. :D No clue about the famous orange dial colour...

As a watch enthusiast, I simply love what the brand is doing, and to be honest for my 6.25in wrist to feel a 42mm Sub 200 was amazing comfort, I don’t think it feels thick, and the beads of rice bracelet melts in my wrist 😊! You don’t want this watch for lume, because you will be disappointed…you want it because the heritage of the brand, the fun and joyful thanks to the variety of beautiful colors (which makes Doxa unique) and obviously, for the long lasting comfort.
