It's actually a selfish and plot hole ending, All angel and human before them have did same thing, beg and willing to sacrifice themself to obtain thier forbidden love. Only the main lead couple get those privileges to love each other as angel and human in the end. Lesson is you gotta be main character or have plot armor to get this sort of forbidden love.
