Charles Eisenstein is an American author and speaker who examines the unspoken narratives that guide our society and our lives. His work covers a wide range of topics, including the history of human civilization, economics, spirituality, and the environmental movement. Key themes explored include anti-consumerism, interconnectedness, and how myths and narratives influence culture.
Mr. Eisenstein holds degrees in mathematics and philosophy from Yale University. He lived in Taiwan for nine years, where he learned to speak Mandarin Chinese fluently and worked as a translator. He married there, had children, then returned to the United States. The Rise of Humanity, published in 2007, became his first commercially successful book and launched his writing career. Since then, Eisenstein has written numerous works, including The More Beautiful World our Hearts Know is Possible and Sacred Economics.
In The Coronation, social philosopher Charles Eisenstein presents the key elements of post-Covid sensemaking. These unforgettable essays chronicle the disintegration of an old normality, an old reality and even, according to Eisenstein, an old mythology. Controversial when first published, these essays-with new introductions by the author for each-are of great relevance as the charge dissipates on previously hot-button issues.
