@@johnnysworld-backyardorchard You inspired me to "grow my own" Sharwil. I am not expecting much but at least I should be able to try one of two someday. But who knows?

Thanks for the update. I hope to be able to add to your collection I was thinking of helping with the Green Gold. I hear its rare down south but we have a local avo nursery that propagates here in the 831 its called Epicenter Avocados. Have a great weekend

Nice update. Quick update on the GEM tree I won in your raffle. It was a slow start but its finally growing new leaves. It's looking healthy and vigorous and loving life in partial sun under its big brother, Bacon. I'll email you a picture once the leaves reach full size.

Hi Frank: you have so many great avocado tree varieties. Hope your Esther produces great fruit for you! Thank you for sharing and thank you for watching!

Thanks for info/update. My modestly substantial (3" trunk) Reed was looking top heavy but I hesitated to top it, then heavy rain in it's ultra dense foliage plus rare high winds broke it off a foot or so above the graft and it didn't grow back above graft. Your judgement on fruit further motivates me to replace it.
@waynebreitkreutz8270 Жыл бұрын
Give the broken trunk above the graft some more time. Recently the same happened to my Reed tree and it put out new growth above the graft. I let two new stems grow while taking off the smaller growth. It has grown two feet tall. Think I will keep it with two trunks.

My wife and I were at a large farmer's market in Hawaii. They had huge avocados at one of the sellers. They were marked as Sharwil. I so wanted to buy one, but we were on a cruise ship and they do not allow bringing fruit back to the ship. I was so tempted to get one so we could try it.

Sharwil is good but Reed is great. Reed is my favorite. Your Reed looks like it is doing very well. I'm hoping we get some good harvests this year. Have you had any fruit set yet? I've had some set but hoping for many more now that it has warmed up.

Hi Sam: I have not had any new fruit set this year but have 3 hanging around from last year. I have not had any Sharwil yet. Wishing you a great avocado production this year! Thank you for sharing and thank you for watching!

Beautiful looking trees, Johnny. I think people’s mouths start salivating when you talk about Sharwil’s & Reed’s. How tall are those 2 trees and when did you plant them? Is your Reed growing vertical like a pencil? I’ve seen other people’s Reeds and they can do that. I was just curious. You have QUITE an interesting grove there. You’ve got some land to work with. I’ve just got a small residential lot and I don’t think I have any choice but to multi-graft maybe 3 trees max with 3 varieties each. I love your videos and am always interested how you’re managing that grove. Thanks, Johnny.

Hi Neal: I would guess my Reed is about 7 feet tall and my Sharwil is about 5 feet tall. My Reed does grow straight which is really nice to look at. I wish I had one multi-grafted tree with a lot of varieties, I think that would be really great. Wishing you a great fruit production year and thank you for watching!

My reed has been in the ground 3 years. I planted it from a 5 gallon container. Out of the 5 varieties I have it's the only one that hasn't gave us any fruit. The wind beats it up too much I think

What is your space separation (in feet) between avocados and other large trees?
@johnnysworld-backyardorchard5 ай бұрын
My avocado trees are pretty tight and close together, only a few feet at most. I know some others like planting them at least 8 feet or so apart. Thank you for your question and thank you for watching!
