My favorite way to eat avocados is just scooping with a little mayonnaise and course black pepper. I only wish I could find something besides Hass to try.

Thanks for contributing! I agree 💯%. I like variety but unfortunately we only get that one variety. I am visiting Hawaii and the great thing there are so many different varieties that they don't even labeling them. Speaking of which I have noticed they like adding mayonnaise to avocado toast here.

Yummy, and the winner is, the avocado you are currently eating ....Thanks for sharing!

Exactly! They are all good with different qualities

It's funny, I thought JB was going to be the winner.

It’s encouraging to know they are all good avocados. Thanks

Thanks for watching Eli. Yes, I was expecting to have a champ but they were all good (although the Fuerte was picked on the early side) they each held their own. Hats off to Pinkerton too I figured the Hass would stand out over it but it didn't happen that way.

The Cados look all tasty. Thanks for the informative video. 👍

Thanks for watching. Like a wine tasting it is interesting to see what qualities stand out when they are side by side.

Thanks for watching! Happy to see your update. More and more people are trying to grow them in containers by the way and you are a good source for both in ground and container growing. Thanks!

Same here Johnny! I am just trying to encourage people to grow their own and get out a few local varities.

Nice test, Mr Alder says Fuerte is his favorite, 2 years out for my fuerte

They are amazing! If I could only have 1 for the rest of my life that would be it.

If you only had room to grow 3 varieties, what would they be? I was leaning towards gem, reed, and not sure about the third haha.

The great question of mankind! NorCal or SoCal? I will get a Lamb & Reed for June/July to December/January.
@growyourownavocados8 ай бұрын
Next you have to figure out what you want from Jan to June. I think Gwen, Gem and Pinkerton would all be good. In SoCal there is Sharwil which is a B which is good. Up here Jim Bacon is also a reliable B and a smaller tree than Bacon and a little tastier but a very different flavor from Hass so you may want to try them first. I like variety so my tastes might be different.

Just remembered! Palo D'Oro could be an excellent spring choice. I haven't had them yet but I have seen photos on how productive they are. Also SC or Santa Clara Gold is gaining popularity as a January to June tree.

Great.... now I need to find a spot for a Jan Boyce tree. Thanks for sharing. Between the JB and Reed which do you like more?
@growyourownavocados9 ай бұрын
Both! 😉 Reed is last to flower so I would probably get a Reed because they will almost always fruit even if the weather is bad that year. On the other hand if you are located somewhere where Fuerte doesn't do well and you want/need that type of flavor I might go JB. In the end I think it is about what you love to eat.
@growyourownavocados9 ай бұрын
I think they are both excellent choices. Greg Alder recommends JB if you already have other trees. I think if you only have 1 or 2 I would probably get Reed first then maybe a JB later.

Yes! Started getting darker in the frig but had to wait until I had a day off

Great review, JB is indeed wonderful, but for me Pinkerton hangs on the trees much longer, as does Lambs, and even GEM...and this is what I want, long hang time.
@growyourownavocados9 ай бұрын
I completely agree! In fact my Carmen wasn't growing so I went Hass in large part because the hang time
