Diane wants to move on from her recent break-up, but after eight months and a dozen viewings, her charming country cottage in Sittingbourne, Kent, hasn’t attracted a single offer. The 1.2-acre property features a pastoral setting with six stables and a three-bedroom home…But the ramshackle interiors also come with broken doors, exposed cables, and reams of unfinished DIY jobs. Slashing the price hasn’t made any difference at all. And to make matters worse, Diane has been doing the viewings herself.
Enter real estate experts John Rennie and Sofie Allsopp. They promise an intervention. And after hatching a plan to appeal to horse-loving buyers, John explores the equestrian market and shakes down the agent, while Sofie transforms the kitchen, completes the renovations, and tops it all off with a cozy cottage design. Will their efforts pay off with a sale?

One of the best real estate ads I have seen for a horse property was like "10 stall barn with turnouts, feed and tack rooms, hay barn with groom's quarters, 5 pastures with water total 120 acres, and 3bdr 2 ba house for owner." Most of the pictures were of the horse facility.

One of the worst things a person can do is get a non-horse person to sell an equestrian property. One of my biggest complaints is in a lot of cases they don't even get inside photos of the barn. It really does their clients know Justice

I personally do not like rugs under dining tables; they make scooting chairs both in and out more difficult and, other than a kitchen, where is the most likely place to spill food and drink? Eliminate both problems by not using a rug. Visually, it does consolidate and feature the dining table and chairs, but it's a big mistake in my opinion. I suppose it does work for selling a house, though.

Interestingly the kitchen cupboards looked a bit old fashioned, but once the floor went down and the proper table and chairs went in, the entire kitchen looked Amazing! I loved how the sons bedroom was done, kept as a childs room but obviously perfect size for adults too. Poor woman. Seems like her husband took off and left a bunch of unfinished DIYs for her to handle. I can sympathize. But I wish they'd tell us how much finishing off all of those things cost. Every home has small issues that we just learn to live with because we can't afford a professional to come in and deal with it. Fresh paint and new flooring are almost always winners. No shock there. But I'm not sure a new dining set was worth the expense, unless it was rented. It would be nice to know.

The first thing I look for in a home is the curb appeal. This house has none. They should have spent some money planting some shrubs and maybe put potted flowering plants underneath the two small windows in the outside entry. Right off the bat, I see she is not much of a knowledgeable equestrian. Leading by holding the halter/head collar, which is ill-fitting, shows lack of training for both the horse and the owner. She should be able to lead the pony on a loose lead. The head tossing tells me the pony is not real happy, frustrated, angry, defiant. The chewing on the top of the stable half-door tells me the occupants are anxious and bored. Ponies have such difficult lives, so often owned by inexperienced people and children.

The dining table isn't under the light fixture, but that's a small item. The homeowner totally is a city creature with fancy fingernails and sophisticated wardrobe and personal style. She simply does not fit with a country home.

Not 2 yrs ago - shown in 2008 so pricing is not relevant. Anyway the Show is fun to watch but would like to see more recent Episodes.

I think the homeowners pay. The North American versions (with just Sofie) briefly mention how much the homeowners pay. Costs are between $3500 - $5000.

I dont understand why the husband couldnt have done all this....so he buggers off leaving her with a house that they both want to sell and expects someone else to come along and fix it! The estate agents will want their fee but they are too lazy to do the viewings....I mean come on typical lazyarse estate agent...I cant be bothered to learn anything about your property so I will leave the viewings up to you....sorry but what is she paying her commission for?

You know, today I was asked what the most evil thing that was technically still legal was. I had an answer I was pretty sure of. But you know what? I was wrong. The most evil thing is someone making me look at a carpeted kitchen with my own two eyes. That. That right there. I'm in physical pain knowing this exists

It could be worse. I've seen it in a bathroom used by four little boys and a grown man. None of them could aim...

We rented a dairy farm that had carpet in the kitchen. The teenage daughter of the owner laughed about spilling milk several times on the carpet.🤢

Too bad they are stuffing the stables with all the junk from the house. The shoppers need to see the real condition of the stables.

More clueless agents... hire a handyman to finish minor fixes, agents should know these local tradesman. There's nothing to a barn property, just mowing and mucking.
