1)Kaap de Voorst klif
The undulating terrain of the high land of Vollehove is a relic of the penultimate ice age in which clay loam was pushed up by the land ice. This clay loam consists of a mixture of loam, sand and boulders. On top of the cliff, workers are at work sloping the height on the seaward side and then lining it with basalt stones.
2)The Vollenhoofse (Venose) Cliff is part of the terminal moraine of the ice sheet from the Saale - Ice Age. This moraine runs from Texel to Wieringen, via the cliffs of Oudemirdum, Mirn and Warns over Urk and Schokland via Vollenhove to the east. The Venose Klif has a height of about 6 metres and consists mainly of clay loam with a top layer of ankle soil.
3)Krusende Flerken
The artwork Krusende Flerken by artist Ids Willemsma. Owned by the water authority, the work consists of two steel tail wings of a duck diving underwater. Those climbing the stairs have a beautiful view of the Kadoelermeer lake.
4)The Bentedijk
The Bentedijk is part of the dykes around the Zuiderwee which were constructed from the 12th century onwards to protect the hinterland from encroaching water.
North-West Overijssel has a long history of regulating water management, flood defence and care for the waterways. Storm disasters from the years 839 and 1170 in particular, in which large areas of forest and peat were swept away, created the Zuiderzee.
