My husband and I are millennials. We live on one income to provide for the family. We got out of debt and have a budget. We make sure God, our marriage, and the care of our children come first. I rather have less than not be able to homeschool my children.

Yes 🙌 same here. The material things I could buy with a job is simply not worth it. Homeschooling the children is too important.

Millennial here. My wife stays home with our children while I work. As you stated, we had to plan for this as a part of our future from the start. God is good.

My husband died in 1976 when the kids were little. Going to work , my kids would have lost their dad and then me to work. So I stayed home and I put my kids in Christian school. Instant poverty, but we chose it. God provided clothes, food, even vacations. Nothing is too hard for God.

Rejoicing that God provided for you! As someone who was a working mom (and with husband) I never felt like the kids lost me to work. God provided unexpected ways for both of us to be home at the right times. In fact, my work equipped me to inoculate my children, philosophically. We of course watched schooling closely as not all public schools are the same. We saw a concerning change toward my daughter's final high school years and recognize even that school no longer safe. If I were a parent of school-age kids now, I'd be looking for alternatives.

Id rather God, and poverty, than rich, or well-to-do and atheism. God looks after His own. Hang in there.😊

I’ve been homeschooling my 2 boys since 2020. Had to pull my son out. His school promoted drag queen story hour at 2nd & 3rd grade+ and practiced yoga in the classroom for the kids.. and much more. I couldn’t agree more, homeschool is the way to go.

My husband and I became believers in Jesus in 1984. In 1988 I quit my job of 7 years as a COBOL computer programmer. God put it on our hearts to homeschool. Proverbs 22:6 kept coming to our minds. " Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old will not depart from it." We had 2 children (ages 5 years and 6 months), and our income was cut in half. God has blessed our decision. After 36 years of homeschooling, all 8 of our children have graduated from homeschooling. None went to college. All 8 are thriving. Most importantly, all 8 (and the spouses) are believers in Jesus Christ, attending church and walking with Christ! No regrets, at all, for making the decision to homeschool. God guided, He provided, He has blessed. All for His glory! No regrets! One of the benefits we didn't anticipate was just how close our children would remain in friendship. Our oldest is 42, the youngest is 18. They are still very close. Praise God! I still encourage parents to homeschool. Teach them about our awesome God and His word. Stay in a Bible believing, Bible teaching church. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

In Germany the option of homeschooling does not exist by law. So we are preparing our child ahead of time what to think and do if exposed to these things.

We are grateful though that our school is in the countryside where they are a bit more "behind" compared to standard curriculum. They know that we are Messianic Jews and are very particular so they came to us when the topic of sex ed came and we could speak honest with the teacher. God blessed us there.

After 20 years in education and receiving a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from University of South Carolina, we made the decision for me to leave my profession and stay home full time to homeschool our boys. My oldest one has continued homeschooling through high school and was just accepted to Biola in their top notch film program. When I think what we have accomplished in providing him this option that allowed him to grow and meet the potential that God instilled in him, it far outweighs anything I might have achieved in my career. There are a lot of misconceptions surrounding homeschool, who "can" homeschool... and I am here to say: as a primarily k-3 educator I was many times out of my depth with my son as he entered in to highschool. The ability to look for resources when you don't know something: THAT is really the primary thing you need to be able to do when homeschooling. There are many resources and options available out there for homeschoolers.

2 factors keeping families from homeschooling. #1 Finances. #2 Parents deem themselves unqualified. You do not need a degree to teach your kids. Curriculum is available. Library resources are free. LOTS and LOTS of options and free resources available. You do not have to have the subject memorized to teach your kids. Read along with them. Learn together. Homeschooling does not require you to emulate a public school setting .There is a TON of wasted time in school settings too, so it doesnt take 7 hours a day to educate your kids at home.

We are considering home school for our grandchildren - I pray that we are in good health so we can take this on in about ten years, at least for late elementary grades. I would want them to take college classes for high school.

I am a fan of homeschooling, but it’s Not practical for every family. Some parents are just not capable (no stable home life, they’re not mentally able to handle it, the parents themselves have too many problems).

Homeschooling doesn't guarantee anything. I've been a pastor for over 40 years. I've pastored churches in two different decades (1992-1994) and (2014-2018) with homeschool parents with teenage daughters. The children were raised in church in both instances. As their pastor, I maintained a respectable distance between me and the teen girls, but at the same time I was their pastor, so I had to at least engage with them in caring conversation. What I discovered shocked me. I expected the girls to be more spiritually mature and dedicated to the Lord because of their lifelong involvement in church and being homeschooled (insinuating that they were shielded from the things of the world). Nothing could have been further from the truth. The girls hated their homeschooling and resented their parents for denying them "normal" childhoods. In other words, despite lifelong church involvement and homeschooling, these girls' hearts and feet were firmly planted in the world. They were not regenerated. They were submitting to their parents' authority because they had no choice, but they were serving with their lips while their hearts were far from God. The homeschooling assuaged the parents' fears of exposing their children to the world, but it did not actually have the intended results they had hoped for in the hearts of their children. As a pastor, and an adult, I tried to support the parents and be a role-model for the children, but in my communication with the girls they confided in me their true thoughts and feelings, which I could not directly share with the parents due to privacy and trust issues with the girls. These were two totally unrelated families living in different parts of the country (one in Maryland and the other in Pennsylvania) and separated by two decades of time. Yet the two cases parallel each other.

My homeschooled preteen son has many public schooled friends. On just one street, he has a friend who is a furry, one gay (8yo), trans (11yo), one very confused, one who has threatened to r#pe, and one complete deviant bully who the police have talked to many times. One street. Most of them can't read. When I tried having a 10 year old friend read, he employed the three cue method that has been declared illegal in 12 states. It was heartbreaking to watch him struggle to read. One day I was at the library and saw a shelf of local school textbooks. I checked out the 4th and 8th grade history textbooks. Excellent. Very similar to ABeka without the Christian influence. These books are available for kids who forgot their book at school, supposedly. One day I asked an eighth grade friend how history class was. She was confused until I explained what history class was, and she said, "We don't have that class. We read articles on current events and write about them." The library was displaying books that the school doesn't even use, but parents think they do. Watch any man-on-the-street interviewer ask basic American history questions of anyone 29 and younger. They don't know anything. Foreign visitors being interviewed know far more American history than any of them. Dumbed down. Check. Erased history. Check. Deviant rebellion and protests encouraged. Check. Forced compliance. Check. The Marxists have won. Now, let's learn how to live for Christ, as persecution is on its way.

This father is 20 years too late. My first preschool class as a preschool teacher in a CHURCH setting had a book in it, something to effect of "Johnny has two daddys". No, not in my classroom, he doesn't.

It is okay to mention it to the teacher, but the teacher has no authority to remove it, other than maybe mention it to the principal. It is up to you to follow through formally to the school board to remove it from the curriculum.

I made a point of knowing my kids' teachers, so I was able to do such things as ensure they were challenged properly, whether they normally excelled, or had problems. The teachers were always happy to help with that, even when the school board disagreed. But that was a number of years ago, before wokeness stupidity took over. With my last (adopted) daughter, I was both a stay-at-home Mom and work-from-home Dad, still heavily involved with her schooling, and a great relationship with her teacher(s). Today, however, I would have to find a way to home school. In some ways, it might be difficult to not be employed, but I'm now on a (small) pension and live fairly austerely, so I could definitely manage (with or possibly without a wife that works - I'm single now). When you could count on the curriculum, public was awesome. Today, it's more like awe-ful.
