I'm tired of Republicans talking badly about the program's that help the poor such as social services. Most people on social services work, or they are disabled and are unable to work. I was working 3 jobs and still couldn't make ends meet, I had to get foodstamps and Medicaid because my employers, walmart, staples and outsmart refused to offer me benefits because they don't hire fulltime employees unless ur a manager.. I worked my way into a heart attack. I was taken out of work and filed for disability. My point is, the only people these tax cuts help, are the greedy owners of these 3 companies I worked for. I did get a little more in my paychecks thanks to the Trump tax breaks, I got 9 dollers more a week in each check.

We've all seen this story before... Many times before. Democrats actually work to eliminate the deficit... Albeit slowly. now Republicans come in... Give the rich their tax cuts and increase spending on the military... Our debt and deficits balloon... We get another economic crash within a couple years... Rinse and repeat Insanity is repeating the same thing again and again and expecting a different result. we collectively have allowed this to happen... We get the Congress and the president we deserve.

So you cut taxes on the rich, then you borrow the money from them so they can collect interest. Then you use the exploding debt to justify cutting the programs that those of us who do pay taxes depend on. Meanwhile productivity increases, but wages remain stagnant, so tax revenues don't go up. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Cool Stuff they should start making better decisions. If their labor isn’t worth a “living wage” they should learn more marketable skills or work more hours. We all did it. Most of us improved ourselves to make more money.
@internetuser126 жыл бұрын
This is not realistic for a huge percentage of the population because their IQ isn't high enough to learn these more marketable skills. Australia has a minimum wage and it has been working fine for us. Low IQ people are able to live in reasonable comfort by sharing rent and working at places like McDonalds for their entire lives. It's not going to get any better also because automation will very soon wipe out all 80-90 IQ jobs. If about 40% of the population is soon unable to afford food and shelter, the outcome isn't going to be pretty for anyone, and that's putting it lightly...

And your point Nizzle? You really think mega corporations are struggling to pay your checks? And if you are working for a small business, then yes, this helps the people signing your checks. And I ask again, what is your point? Its not the mega rich storing their money off shores that stimulate the economy, its the people with 100$ who need to spend every dollar to get by.
@TheShadowGames076 жыл бұрын
I agree Michael, but to get around the 'omg, why should a burger flipper get 15$ an hour' crowd, you can still achieve the same ends by not taxing them at all, because it still amounts to the poor people getting higher pay checks without actually affecting smaller businesses or inflation overall because the workers are still getting the same pre tax amount. I do agree that wages need to go up as well, but this is a different method to the same goal.

Virtually everyone believes that government spending and/or tax cuts will have a powerfully positive effect on our economy. The Republicans believe tax cuts and military spending are the basic formula for economic prosperity. But in other, far more important ways, the idea that government spending and government debt is a positive force in the economy is completely wrong. Fatally wrong. Each dollar of additional debt led to less and less growth in GDP. Based on academic research, the best evidence suggests the [government expenditure] multiplier is -0.01, which means that an additional dollar of deficit spending will reduce private GDP by $1.01, resulting in a one-cent decline in real GDP. While Trump’s tax cuts can temporarily boost GDP, within three years, his spending will cut into GDP at a rate roughly equal to 1% of total government spending. The only prediction that’s consistent is that the government is going to make this default cycle a lot worse. In other words, Ana is right! And I will leave you with another question, Why Trump companies have gone Bankrupt 5 times? Excess leverage/Debt! What is he doing with the country? Excess leverage/Debt!

Trickle down economics is a lot like dying of thirst and standing under a random leaf, with fingers crossed, hoping and praying a random drop of rainfall might, just might, fall and miraculously land in your mouth. The unfortunate thing is most people can't do the basic math that wages stay stagnant + prices go up = you make less, or corporations make more(get taxed less) + you make the same + massive government spending = exploding national debts that you will eventually pay for.
@KennyakaTI6 жыл бұрын
Conservatives annoy me with that trickle down economics bullshit. It never works. Corporations always keep that money for themselves and their shareholders (which I'm not complaining about because I invest in the stock market). My issue is that they lie and say they want to lower taxes because it creates jobs when it really doesn't and history has shown this.
@michaelbeelby19956 жыл бұрын
kenny aka TI you point out that history shows this...i would just like to say that to know history, you need to read and take in information, these are two things these asshats are woefully inept at. As to the stock market, the tax cut is an artificial stimulus to keep those stocks afloat and riding high, once the stimulus runs out, the bubble pops, and we see a correction...those gains are ethereal and do not represent the actual economy in any way

Dennis did I say it was? But considering national wealth and how to measure how "rich" a country is, it's peculiar since it follows nearly the exact opposite strategy from the US. They do have their state fund with all the income from their (nationalized) natural resources and they even manage it by political means instead of just like any other hedgefond, i.e. decreeing via law that it may only be invested in renewable energy. While the US debt is at over 100% of it's GDP while having total shitty welfare, public education and infrastructure, Norway has this giant surplus while having a well functioning welfare state and some of the best public education in the world.

We should be focusing more on wage stagnation, they have been stagnant for decades and I don't think any policy tweak in the right or left is going to fix it. There's so many factors to consider that even macro economics professors don't agree on what to do. But it does need to be dealt with. People who work 40 hours a week should be able to pay their rent, eat healthy, and afford Healthcare. Right now I'm not sure that is subsidized with government welfare which is necessary but I don't see this as a permanent fix.
@johnbuckner28286 жыл бұрын
Michael Coville I can't disagree, but that won't necessarily fix the overall problem. Minimum wage should keep up with inflation but we will have to see the impact on cities that have implemented a $15 minimum wage.

To be perfectly clear, the debt itself isn’t really a problem. The actual core problem is threefold. 1. More debt is fine so long as as the economy grows to make the additional debt bearable. There is no actual solid plan for this. 2. The money is being spent on stupid things. We could be investing in infrastructure, renewable energy, and the citizenry but instead we’re engaging in trade wars, subsidizing fossil fuels, and other stupid expenses like Donald’s golf trips. 3. Political hypocrisy. The fiscally responsible folk suddenly don’t give a crap when they’re spending money giving handouts to the rich.

Tax cuts is the reason that public services such as, education, transportation, social security, and health-care are being pushed into the direction of privatization. Individual citizens of the United States pay taxes in order to fund socialist programs such as the ones listed above, what makes this GOP's agenda dangerous is that these programs that we depend on as citizens will be turned into for-profit program's, which means that these services we paid for are now in the hands of corporations whose prices are subject to change or more likely increase as the years go further. As citizens we have allowed this sect of governance to high jack the fundamental purpose of our government and sold it to the highest bidder. The GOP has been and is the biggest threat to American democracy NOT Russia. Trumpism is a distraction, a distraction from the money being given back to the citizens in order to provide an auction to private interests for our public services. Citizens are going to lose what it means to be a citizen if the citizens are no longer funding the government. Trump is many things but not the cause of our current state of affairs. This is the long con that the GOP has executed without fail over the last 30 years. Trump is the patzy the GOP has elected in order to have a fall guy for their gutting of social services and the dismantling of the administrative state. Wake up citizens, if your not outraged you are not paying attention!!
@RichzNHealth6 жыл бұрын
I should say that throughout my pursuit of my under grad at NAU for public administration the view on privatization is that it is great for our cities since there isn't enough money to go around. My education taught my to ask the question, why isn't there enough money? Besides that we spend 60 % of our taxes on military defense and yet many of our veterans come back from their brave sacrifice only to find that those services are poorly managed, under staffed and inadequate to their needs. At some point, if not already, the fall of the USA will not be anyone's fault but ours. Get informed, know what your Congressman or woman votes on and ask yourself if you benefit from that vote? Ask again who would benefit? Is immigration really the biggest thing you deal with in your personal life? Or is it that the moment you get paid, a majority of your pay check is gone preventing you from appreciating your contribution to this great idea of a nation? Now this isn't everyone's dilemma, but it is many. Ask yourselves what happens in your day to day and look at your Congress persons voting record on issues and ask if he/she understands what you need in order to improve your life? Ask another question and see if Jose or Jesus migrating to this country is really the biggest issue? And ask again why is it theirs?

A town that was hoping to benefit from the first tax reform. The news organization went back after the first tax reform went through. Guess how many families in that town benefited? None is the answer. Not one family benefited. There are farmers and teachers that live there. Ranchers that needed that tax reform to help keep their lands and keep their businesses. If this second tax reform does not benefit that town let alone other middle class, small business owner's towns, than that should be a wake up call to everyone. Republican and Democratic, wake up. Oh shit, time to raise taxes on the middle class and cut education again!

I don't understand making tax cuts 'permanent' That's not possible. Even Amendments to the Constitution can be repealed.

Rip Sumrall not the first 10.

The first 10 are untouchable.
@ripsumrall80186 жыл бұрын
Ulfric Stormcloak True but it doesn't change the underlying point. NO, legislation can be made permanent!
@bertinrow6 жыл бұрын
You're wrong. They're amendments.

My "tax break" is a whopping $18 a check. Oh joy?
@ZohmBe6 жыл бұрын
Well if you don't pay a lot taxes, you won't see a lot of the tax break. If the Democrats had their way you would be paying over 50% of your wage.
@PlumbDrumb6 жыл бұрын
There isn't anything permanent about "permanent", unless the new definition of permanent is "until someone decides otherwise".

The tax cuts are bad enough, but he's also starting trade wars left and right, AND spending money on frivolous shit like golfing at his club. Is it any wonder he went bankrupt so many times?

Funny to hear Kudlow talking and gesturing with his hands; as if he’s trying to sell a freezer to an Inuit.

The tax cut did NOT help me or my family in anyway whatsoever! Especially since the cost of everything has gone up due to the actions of chump. Tariffs n all his fake tough guy act. Bully to women n week men. But when faced with a real bad ass tail between the legs. Street fighter yeah right. Pillow biter more like it

Just to add - I am also tired of hearing that the safety net programs (let alone the SS & Medicare crap Ryan & his ilk spin) are "entitlements" like they are bad and handouts. I paid into those programs my whole life (well my life so far, and it has been decades since then so no newbie to work) since my first job at 15. Now it is like I am paying into an insurance policy (which I also pay into ) in case I ever need it, like with my auto and homeowners policy; HOPEFULLY, I won't need to file a claim on it (because that would mean something unfortunate happened to me), but it is stupid to not have it like with my insurance policies because you never know what will happen from day to day. Those programs should really be called Social Insurance policy programs-yes, I know there are some short term insurance policies you can buy for covering a job loss etc., but they have many stipulations to them etc. I looked into them too. Most people can't cover themselves for huge extended periods of not working for whatever reason unless they are like a millionaire or billionaire (however if they ever unfortunatley went bust - some have- they could also use those programs too)/ People bitch on the right too that all the illegals (and of course the illegals are all minority types to those people & lazy or on drugs, LOL) are breaking the system, then yeah, like with the Dominicans recently using stolen Puerto Ricans identities to claim benefits, that is just fraud, but it is not overall or illegals on their own getting benefits using their own non-stolen identity- 1. They usually don't want to ask or apply and be caught & deported, 2. Don't qualify because of their illegal status (I don't know about CA, OK, would have to contact their Human Services agencies and ask them because I know some rightie will make that claim too) I do know though about it in other states, because I wanted to see for myself, not listen to some pundit telling me, to actually fact check it myself by contacting said agencies and inquiring about their procedures, requirements etc. with it (also to clue my FOX news watching relative in on reality, not the crap FOX spews about those programs). so the righties can shut up about the illegals picking their wallets.

@bane39916 жыл бұрын
Republicans take from the middle class? You mean like how the democrats want to spike taxes and take from the upper/middle class. They're in favor of welfare, how can you possibly just blame Republicans?

Cutting taxes and increasing deficit would just mean less government spending in other departments. Increase the progressive taxes for the high end earners implement a progressive corporation tax with it taxing high profit corporations more. No they won't take their business elsewhere, America is a huge market and unless they are making a loss, continuing to work will provide them profits. With that they will also see revenue and the boards of these large companies will get their pay packets. They just won't be as much inequality as there is, which is guess some people don't want... Here is what you should cut, relocate your military spending. USA population around 350 million roughly - Military spending over 600 billion. China population 1.3 billion but the military spending is at 228 billion. The reason I am using population to show the difference is because, China has a larger population to protect why is the US spending roughly 400 billion more on a population which is 3 times smaller? To push for a non existent war, oh wait I forgot trumps trying to create one with iran. I wonder what someone such as Bernie Sanders could do with 400, no wait even 200 billion. Trump is attempting to use trickle down economics, if I can even credit him for thinking that far. The truth is... inequality still stands and trickle down economics has failed unless you want to implement laws such as minimum age increases or maximum wage. Obviously taxes should not be so high because inequality does provide some incentive to work harder but the inequality that we face the worlds richest comparing to a high percentage of the population is absurd. Just my thoughts...
